Deadly Reboot by CJ Matthew (Book Review) (CONTEST INCLUDED!!)

In honor of FLAG DAY, June 14, and all the veterans who served under OLD GLORY, CJ Matthew and I are offering a star spangled contest featuring Deadly Reboot, Paladin Group book 1.

But before we dive into the rules to enter, first we’d like to introduce one of the prizes — Deadly Reboot.

Still risking their lives…The Paladin Group. Ginger Odom has sworn to become self-reliant… Until she is arrested in a small town and framed for the murder of a police officer. Seems everyone in the community wants her behind bars, regardless of the truth, so her aunt enlists the help of the Paladin Group. A team of wounded former military men and woman, now civilian lawyers and investigators, they rescue people in serious trouble. Hale Peters is determined to ignore his knee injury… The former Air Force Pararescueman, wounded during a rocket attack on Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, accepts his first reboot for Paladin. His mission—keep Ginger safe until he can prove her innocence—becomes a bigger challenge than expected when he and Ginger clash over who’s in charge. The Devil Dogs just want to help… The group of older veterans steps up to assist, but when Ginger’s life is threatened by the real killer, Hale and Ginger need to work together if they hope to stay alive.

Despite the lack of “Who done it” in this mystery novel, I actually really enjoyed it. Why? Because of the cast…… plain and simple.

CJ didn’t have a group of young, buff, 6-pack sporting, Dwayne Johnson look-alike, guys handling the case of “Who really shot Officer Ivey?”

Nope, she had military veterans, men/women injured in battle working the case. Heck, the youngest man from the Devil Dog crew was 64. Heck, they even had a beagle (Grunt) getting into the thick of things.

Favorite Devil Dog –> Hale, lead investigator. He walked with a cane and used it as a weapon, too. Oh yes, he’s still pretty badass!!

Seriously, you couldn’t find a more diverse cast of characters.

With that said, there is something I would change about Deadly Reboot(small gripe). I wasn’t a fan of the county and town’s name being so closely related. Erinville and Erin County. I thought a bit more imagination could’ve been used here, but really as Shakespeare once said, “What’s in a name?”

Dangerous Tide by CJ Matthew (Book Review) (CONTEST INCLUDED!!)

With the head of field ops murdered, Rye is recalled to SBW to resume his team leadership role. Anxious to clear his tarnished reputation, the last thing Rye needs is the pod physician hounding him for budget support. Or worse, warning all of SBW that he’ll be the next to become violent and dangerous.

Doc Libra, alarmed by the recent unprecedented violence at SBW, resolves to get a bigger lab and start her research to uncover the cause. She’ll need lots of Shore Shifter blood samples and Rye’s name is at the top of her list. But if she hopes to gain his cooperation, she’ll need to agree to his deal.

Author signed copies are available at Fiction Addiction, 1175 Woods Crossing Road Ste 5, Greenville, SC 29607 or available on Fiction Addiction’s website: HERE.

Once again CJ kept me entertained with her fishy phrases: fish guts, squid lips, shark shit on toast. Yes, she made sure there was humor and romance mixed within the high-octane plot.

Speaking of plot, in Dangerous Tide, you’ll encounter gun battles, explosions, kidnappings, illegal gun smuggling, and an almost air-tight frame job.

Throughout all that, you be a happy bystander while you watch an doc (with body image problems) fall head over heels in love with an agent who has trouble asking for help.

As you can imagine, both get over their issues and the final scene had me placing Rye in the top 10 of most romantic shifter. Yes, I have a such list. Don’t you? 😉

And on a final note, I <3 seeing a woman kick a little ass. As the saying goes….We are women, hear us roar… or in a dolphin’s case maybe – eeeeeeik eeik eeeek.

HA!! 🙂

Oh, and best of luck to all of you!!

Life isn’t exactly normal for Eva Parker: the stronger Eva’s emotions, the faster nearby electrical devices die. Eva can’t have a cell phone, use a computer, or be in a car for more than a few minutes without killing it. Dealing with her electricity-killing curse makes living in modern-day Los Angeles complicated enough for Eva—and that was before she was blackmailed into hiding a stolen baby elephant and partnered with Hudson, a sexy electrical engineer Eva just met.

Dodging repeated attempts on her life made by ruthless corporations hunting the elephant is easier for Eva than quelling her growing affection for Hudson, and while protecting an elephant is hard, controlling her curse is a lot harder. However, Eva must do both, because if she lets her emotions free and falls in love with Hudson, neither of them will survive.

Enchanting and quirky, Tiny Glitches fuses electrifying romance and high-voltage suspense in a rollicking adventure.

This has to be the weirdest book I’ve ever read and that’s NOT a bad thing. In fact, I couldn’t stop myself from reading page after page until I reached the epic conclusion.

Throughout Tiny Glitches, there was absolutely no boring moments and enough humor to keep a smile plastered onto my face.

From the get go, Rebecca brought the fun when Eva and Hudson began their unwelcome job of elephant sitting. Yup, you read that right….. ELEPHANT SITTING. At least it was a miniature elephant or elephantini (as referred to in the book).

In their reluctant adventure with Kyoko (elephant), they had to endure kidnappings, FBI, ninjas, and a gun-toting clown.

Seriously, I can’t make this stuff up but I’m sure glad Rebecca did.

Read the book, folks, you’ll be pleased you did.
