Author Showcase – Phoenix Johnson

Angie and her vampire sisters are happy, making their lives in the modern world after escaping from their abusive Creator, Vitalis. Jake is a mortal man who has fallen hard for Angie, unaware of her secret and just how it affects his own life. Their lives, however, are about to be thrown into chaos.

Has Vitalis really found the sisters after all these years, just as Angie finds love?

Preparing to battle for their freedom and the life of their sister, Angie must ready herself. Not only must she take on the father she once loved, but she also must choose between the mortal life she wanted with Jake, or to protect vampires and humans alike from an unknown, ancient threat.

The Return of Their Master is the first taste of a dark world held in check by a covenant that Angie believed was a myth. She is the only thing standing between the world of humanity and utter chaos, but will she sacrifice her chance at a normal life with the man she loves?

He cupped my cheek and I leaned into his large hand. “From now on, no more secrets, right?”

I nodded. “Right. But my Creator –”

“Isn’t here right now. I want to show you how much I love you. You can get to filling me in on the rest later.” I opened my mouth to talk only for him to cover my lips with his own. Instead of words, my mouth was now filled with his tongue brushing against mine. I gave into the kiss and pressed myself against him.

I lost myself in his embrace, in his warmth, and in our passion. We had shared kisses, but nothing like this. This was a lust-filled kiss that would lead to sex if I allowed it, and I wanted to allow it. I had been too afraid of giving myself over to the lust, knowing I would want to feed at the height of ecstasy, knowing it would freak him out. Now he knew what I was and what he was, I didn’t have to be afraid.

I threw my leg over both of his so I now straddled his lap. I started to grind my pelvic bone against him, and felt a twitch as his erection grew. I ached for him, needed to have him right then and there. Not only would it satisfy the lust I’d been feeling since first meeting Jake last year, but it would seal the bond as Creator and Created. My fangs throbbed, eager to taste his blood again, hot against my tongue as I rode him to climax. I couldn’t fathom just how much I needed him in every way.

Review of “The King” – J.R. Ward

Long live the King
After turning his back on the throne for centuries, Wrath, son of Wrath, finally assumed his father’s mantle–with the help of his beloved mate. But the crown sets heavily on his head. As the war with the Lessening Society rages on, and the threat from the Band of Bastards truly hits home, he is forced to make choices that put everything–and everyone–at risk. Beth Randall thought she knew what she was getting into when she mated the last pure blooded vampire on the planet: An easy ride was not it. But when she decides she wants a child, she’s unprepared for Wrath’s response–or the distance it creates between them. The question is, will true love win out… or tortured legacy take over?

How I love thee, let me count the ways….

1)I always adore reading the sections involving Lassiter, the angel. Again, his scenes were full of hilarity. Him, decked out in an Elvis costume, performing the marriage ceremony for Beth and Wrath was one for the comedic books. He had me rolling. Funniest ceremony EVER!

2)iAm – That sexy beast needs a book. I was intrigued by him before and now, I’m dying to hear his story. The bombshell he dropped on Beth shocked the hell out of me. (Not elaborating)

3) Trez and Selena – He needs her and she needs him. They are opposites but are perfect for one another. They complete each other. Ward, yup, I want more of them too. I think we all want their happily ever after.

4) I was also engrossed in the lives of the bad guys – routing for them and their soul mates. For that to happen, you know a writer is good at her craft.

J.R., girl, you are one helluva of a writer and you seem to get better with each installment. Not an easy feat!

Author Showcase & GIVEAWAY CONTEST – Dina Redmon

Welcome, Dina Redmon!

1.  For those who might not be familiar
with you, would you be a dear and tell the readers a little about yourself?
How did you get your start in the writing business?
(Dina) Hi! I don’t know if I can stop at a little about myself, but
I’ll try. 🙂 How
about we start with a quick rundown of the basics? I’m 43 years old, live in
the fingers lake region of upstate New York, have 108 tattoos currently and
counting, have traveled all over the U.S. and then some, was a foster mom for
years, former art and life skills teacher, owned my own tattoo studio for a
while, crochet, sculpt, draw, paint (heck, anything to do with art), bake,
cook, sew… I think you see where I am going with this. I am passionate about
art in all of its many forms. As far as my start in writing? I needed to heal.
I actually wrote my first book, “To Speak of it Again” (soon to be released
through Beau Coup Publishing) as a cathartic purging and never thought anyone
would read it other than my close circle of friends. Through their encouragement,
I decided to keep going. It’s highly based on my life story and that of those
around me. When I finished, I cried. Not because of the release of the painful
memories or the reliving of the happier ones, but because I felt as though I
found my true calling in life. I haven’t stopped writing since. I mean,
honestly, I need to write like people need to breathe. I’m usually working on
three or more writing projects at one time and drive my family insane with
reading aloud to them as I go. Aww smack… there I go again, getting all wordy
and stuff. *wink*
2.  All writers fear
the dreaded “block”. Please tell us how you handle it.
(Dina) I hold no fear. Gosh, that sounds so silly, but I truly
don’t when it comes to writer’s block. As I said, I have more than one project
going at a time, so should the block hit me in the head, I simply switch up the
project I’m working on. Sometimes, I push the laptop aside for a while and just
crochet. It’s one of my favorite past times and I make a lot of my own swag
packs and thank you gifts with it.
(KAM) That’s pretty amazing. My mom tried to teach me once, twice….okay a hundred times but all I could make was a rope. 🙂
3. Contrary to what some people envision about a romance
writer’s life, it’s not all glitz and glam. Well not for the majority of us.
With that bubble sadly busted, when you’re not writing, how to do you spend
your time?
(Dina) *puts gum in my mouth and blows a new bubble* Oh, not me. My
life is full of glitz and glamour! 🙂 Why, just yesterday I was rubbing elbows with Hollywood’s finest, and of
course, I did it in the perfect designer gown and shoes with diamonds dripping
from my neck and ears. Then I woke up and folded a pile of laundry that was
sitting in a basket waiting for my attention for over a week. Stupid wrinkled
clothes! Why couldn’t they just fold themselves? *giggle* I’m just the average
chick when it comes to everyday life. I put off the cooking and cleaning as
long as I can while I mess around on the internet, draw tattoo designs or go
comatose in front of the television while watching a movie. Right before it
absolutely has to be done, I jump up, soak the dishes in the sink, wipe down
the bathroom, wash the dishes, vacuum all of the floors (Yes, even the hardwood
ones) and spray some air freshener so it smells like I spent all day cleaning.
Oh, and if I remember, I make the bed because my grandmother used to say, “No
matter how messy your room is, if your bed is made, it’ll look clean.” Thanks
4. I know many writers, such as Dirk and myself, keep their
pastime/career a secret. Do those close to you know you write? If so, what are
their thoughts?
(Dina) Oh yeah, they know I write. LOL! I read to them ALL THE
TIME! You can actually hear their eyes rolling when I stop and say, “Hey,
listen to this!” and just start reading aloud to them. My mom is my biggest fan
and she always loves listening to me… even when she doesn’t want to. I love you
Mom!!! <3
5. Will you share with us your all time favorite authors? If
you’re like me, it’s a long list so give us your top ten.
(Dina) I must start with Nathaniel Hawthorne. I read “The Scarlet
Letter” at a very young age and it stuck with me my entire life. I have owned
multiple copies of it because it falls apart from reading it so much. I still
have my first one though. Um, wow… ten? Okay fine *pouts* I guess I would have
to say next would be Margaret Mitchell. I mean really, is there a person alive
that didn’t love “Gone with the Wind”? Swoon inducing romance at its finest! I love
all of the classics. Sandra Love and Liberty Blake are two of my favorite romance
authors. They are both truly talented and their passion for the written word
shines through in their work. Sable Hunter is phenomenal as well. Her stories
suck you right in and hold you there. Be warned… It’s hard to put her books
down once you pick them up! Robyn Peterman Zahn will make you laugh so hard
you’ll wet your pants! Her style is the definition of unique and one cannot
help but wonder if she sold her soul to the devil in return for her writing
abilities. OH! Mike Faricy! His crime fiction novels, starring the very sexy
Dev Haskell, will make you laugh and swoon at the same time! Yes, definitely
check him out! Want pure romance? Read Melody Anne’s works! I promise you won’t
be disappointed. SC Cluff is an extremely talented and imaginative author and
his writing is geared toward middle school aged children and adults alike. His
book, Newt Newsberry, Black Ops Campaign, had me rolling in the aisles with
laughter and at the same time, made me feel for the “underdog”. Oh no, last
one? Eeek! SO hard to choose! Um… OMG! Alicia Sparks! Who else could mix
zombies and romance together so well and come up with a novel that will blow
your mind? Well, there it is- my list of ten.
6. If you could choose one book to go to the big screen,
yours or otherwise, which book would you choose and whom would you love see
casted in the parts?
(Dina) Time for a moment of selfishness. I would choose my own book
“To Speak of it Again.”
Casting? WOW! Haven’t even thought about that. (Why are
you making me think so much? LOL!) The role of Maggie Reed, the main character,
is screaming to be played by Channing Tatum in drag! Naw, I’m just kidding… but
think about that one. *wink and giggle* Rachel McAdams would have to play grown
up Maggie. She is such a talented and passionate actress, plus, I just want to
meet her.
7. Would you care to tell us what you’re working on now?
That is if it’s not top-secret information. If so, just whisper it in my ear. I
swear it’ll go no further.
(Dina) *Whispers* I’m working on the sequel to “Chasing
Circumstance”, but Ssh, don’t tell anyone, okay? Stop, wait, hold up- I take
that back. Please, tell everyone so they’ll read it! Oh yeah, and the sequel to
“To Speak of it Again” and also the first book in a twelve book
paranormal/romance series. You will have to turn on brighter lights and shine
them in my face if you want any more information than that. Hey! I was just
kidding! Turn off those lights! They’re burning my retinas!
8. Where can we find your stories and is there a particular
reading order?
(Dina) I can be found on Amazon. And yes, since I only have one
book out at the moment, “Chasing Circumstance”, you should start there 🙂
9. Would you please share how your present and future fans
can contact you?
(Dina) Let’s start with my website…
And then there is Facebook…
10. Before we conclude this enlightening interview, do you
have anything else you’d like to share? The stage is all yours.
(Dina) *steps into the spotlight* “Hey, could you cut that spot to
a blue one please? It’s better for my complexion. Thanks. I would make the
world a better place by…” HA! You didn’t really think I was going there, did
Well, actually – maybe just a bit.
I am a social media junkie! If I’m awake, my social media
sites are on, at least in the background. I adore meeting new people, chatting
and sharing stories. Virtual friendships, at least in my not so humbled
opinion, can be just as strong as face to face ones. Know what I mean?
With that said, I’ve been seeing a trend lately that irks me to my core. Yes, I said irks. Why are authors and artists being
bullied? I mean really. Aren’t we supposed to be supporting one another? We are
a community and it doesn’t build anyone up to tear someone down. I wonder what
these bullies get out of sitting behind their computers and picking on someone
until they chase them away or make them cry. Does it make you feel better to
hurt someone? Does your lack of self control make you a happier person? You
obviously don’t feel very good about yourself if you feel the need to say such
hurtful things to someone you don’t even know. What the hell is wrong with you?
I pity you because you must not know what it is to love. If you did, you
wouldn’t hate so easily. I mean really, why all the hate? Don’t you think our
world has enough of that going on without you adding more to it? Please, stop.
It really is that simple. If you didn’t like a book, that’s fine. Leave a
constructive critique. It’s not that difficult, or… just don’t say anything.
You know the old adage, if you can’t say something nice… shut the #%@$ up!
Okay, that might not be exactly the phrase, but you get my meaning. How can you
read about romance and love and still be so hateful? It boggles my mind.
Please, don’t make me virtually slap you. *Okay, steps down from her soapbox.*
This was a blast and I look forward to getting to know each
and every one of you. Hit me up, let’s chat sometime. I’ll even make coffee and
homemade goodies. Don’t forget… In everything you do, love yourself so you may
love others and watch as the world benefits from it. Ciao Bellas.

This week, I’m thrilled to announce we have multiple prizes to give to you courtesy of Dina.

What happens when you reach your breaking point?

Amia Durant was trying to figure that out.
At forty years old, Amia had it all. She worked for Millian’s, the third highest ranking ad agency in the world, and though her career was her life, she felt incomplete.
Turning to the internet for companionship, she meets Stuart Cairns. They laugh together over shared stories and help heal one another from mutual pains.

After months of communication, Stuart asked Amia to be his. Doubt filled her mind, but she knew she had to try. There was only one problem. He lived in Scotland and she in New York.
An unexpected opportunity delivers Amia to Scotland and she finds herself falling in love with him after spending a blissful weekend together before she returned stateside.

Will this fairy tale continue or will it fizzle out in the waters of the ocean between them?

Two of my very favorite things in the whole world are hot cocoa and biscotti. When combined, the experience of dipping the cookies in the thick, warm chocolate and munching on them relaxes me. And today – I needed to relax. Taking my cup to the desk, I settled myself in the chair and opened my laptop. Since my relationship with Stuart had ended, the computer had been something I avoided. I connected it with him, I guess. But no more – it was time to take the next step in my life.

So, I set up an online dating profile on Sizzling Singles to find what I needed. Most of the men on these sites only wanted one thing anyway, and since I was looking for the same thing, what did it matter where they came from?

Pushing a lock of hair from my eyes, I got down to business. “Let’s see, Amia Durant, forty years old, five foot six inches tall, red hair, green eyes and a professional career. There, that should do it.” I posted my picture and waited anxiously for the responses to start coming in.

During the evening, I made myself comfortable, watching a little TV and reading a romance on my e-reader. No matter how involved I was in my book or a show, I kept one ear open for that ‘ding’ which would tell me someone had taken notice of my post. It didn’t take long before I received my first reply. A smile crossed my face as I leapt from the couch, went to my desk, and pulled up the man’s profile to scan it. I thought it would be a good idea to take a test drive before I jumped into a caravan of conquests. Gary Morgan looked to be the perfect crash test dummy. He was forty-four years old, good looking without being playboy handsome, and had been on the site for over a year. I knew that would make him a bit desperate. I stared at his photo. He reminded me of an older Tony Danza with his graying temples, soulful brown eyes and those attractive dimples that framed his smile.

Retrieving my laptop, I nestled down in the couch and tucked my feet up under me. This was going to be fun. “Hey, Amia, I was perusing the new members and came across your picture and profile. I’m sure you hear this all the time, but you’re beautiful. If you’re interested in chatting, please feel free to message me back.” Gary’s message was so stereotypical I could’ve almost read it with my eyes closed.

“Well, hello there, Gary. I hadn’t expected a response to my profile so quickly. Thank you for your interest. Please, call me and let’s get to know each other. I’m looking forward to hearing from you.” I typed in my phone number, hit the send button, sat back and waited for the phone to ring. I know it was a bit reckless for me to give out my phone number so early, but I was ready to do this. Besides, I’d had enough of this online crap to last me a lifetime, and cell phone numbers were easy enough to change if necessary.

3… 2… 1…ring. As if it were a scene written in a screenplay, the phone rang on cue. This was going to be easy. We chatted for a bit and made plans to meet at a restaurant near his office for dinner the following night.

Review of “Hope Ignites” – Jaci Burton

When a movie crew asks to film on his cattle ranch, Logan McCormack doesn’t expect Desiree Jenkins, the young, sought-after star, to be so open, so down-to-earth, or so intimately interested in him. But the last thing a loner like Logan needs is a distraction like Des, who wouldn’t understand what it’s like to live peacefully off the land.

But it’s Logan who doesn’t understand. What Des wants is an escape from paparazzi and gossip columns, and she’s found it at Logan’s ranch. Now it’s up to her to prove that she’s like any other girl looking to be accepted for who she is. And she’s hoping that it’s by this real life cowboy who has everything it takes—and more—to give her the kind of happily ever after that can’t be found in the movies.

~ Review ~
Do you love cowboys?
Do you love when a woman takes charge and speaks her desires?
Oh yeah, I do too.
I loved how Des flirted with Logan. Literally came out and said she wanted him in her bed. That is hot!
Colt, her best friend and movie co-star, oh he was quite dreamy too. I hope him and his boyfriend Tony make appearances in future releases because I believe their story has just begun.

about yourself?
How did you get your start in the writing business?
     (Alicia) Hi. Thanks so
much for having me here. I’m a Southern girl who doesn’t live in reality most
of the time. I got my start by writing all the thousands of things that run
through my head every day. Some people have imaginary friends. I write about
2.  All writers fear
the dreaded “block”. Please tell us how you handle it.
(Alicia) Ugh. Not very
gracefully. I mostly mope. Then I get back on the proverbial horse. Usually
when I get writer’s block with one project I switch to another one.
3. Contrary to what some people envision about a romance
writer’s life, it’s not all glitz and glam. Well not for the majority of us.
With that bubble sadly busted, when you’re not writing, how to do you spend
your time?
(Alicia) Eating bon bons and shopping on Rodeo Drive. What do you mean it’s
not glamorous? LOL. I have four boys, so they keep me busy.
4. I know many writers, such as Dirk and myself, keep their
pastime/career a secret. Do those close to you know you write? If so, what are
their thoughts?
(Alicia) My friends and family know that I write but I do try to keep
everything separated. I teach high school. Before that, I taught college for
twelve years (thank you higher ed cuts). The last thing I want is for my

yours or otherwise, which book would you choose and whom would you love see
casted in the parts?
(Alicia) Everyone wants to see the Black Daggars on screen. We are
obsessed with those books. So I would love to see that whole series make it to
the big screen. I’d cast Jason Momoa as Wraith, Chris Hemsworth as “Hollywood,”
Tom Hardy as Butch, Wentworth Miller as Zsadist, Tom Hiddleston as V. That’s as
far as I’ve gotten. I’m sure there’s a part in there somewhere for Alex
Pettyfer too.
(KAM) I’m a huge fan of the series, too!!

Cassius Ramirez went into the Lake sixty years ago and knows he died, but when he woke up in the morgue, everything has changed. Something is killing people in New Orleans, and Cass knows he’s responsible. But when he meets Gen, he knows he will do anything to protect her. Cass isn’t the only man who feels a connection to Gen, and when his brother Craven catches her scent, all bets are off.

Bodies torn to shreds, brains missing, creatures roaming the night, victims with human teeth marks in their flesh. Worse of all, his partner, Jules, has been throwing around a Z word usually reserved for late night horror movies.

As creatures roam the streets of New Orleans, Gen’s very existence is on the line. She’s unleashed a creature unlike any other and now she may have to pay the ultimate price. There’s a cure, but it may cost her even more than her soul.

(Alicia) I’m on facebook at thealiciasparks.

10. Before we conclude this enlightening interview, do you
have anything else you’d like to share? The stage is all yours.
(Alicia) I love
connecting with the fans and welcome messages, emails and of course reviews. I
also want to know what kind of stories they want to see from me next. Thanks so
much for the opportunity to stop by!

Ladies and gents, here’s the part of the show where we announce the giveaway details.

If you don’t know the drill, let me state the rules.

The contest will run until Saturday – midnight, central time. On Sunday, Alicia will announce the winner here on a comment and be in touch with you so have your account set to receive messages.

PRIMITIVE FIX – Meet two brothers, tiger shifters, and the women who bring out the beast in them.

Part 1 – Kenyon

Sage Villalobos has been destined to marry Kenyon Maddux since the day she was born. As the second-born in her wolf clan, she came into this world owing a debt to the family of shape-shifting tigers who rule the Louisiana swamps in the Atchafalaya Basin. Kenyon is the only man she’s ever wanted, the man who sets her blood on fire, but she’s tired of being indebted to his family for something she didn’t do. She wants him to choose her because he loves her, not because he owns her. When Kenyon’s brother, Nik, is taken prisoner, Kenyon turns to Sage for help. Using her unique skills, she knows she can help him free his brother, but there will be a price. If she agrees to do this, she wants Kenyon to release her from her debt. However, the only thing Kenyon wants to do is hold on to her and never let her go.
Part 2 – Nik
After months of captivity as part of a roadside attraction, Nik Maddux is finally able to escape. Injured and at death’s door, he makes his way through the swamp only to collapse near Juliette’s home. Juliette pulls the naked man into her cabin and begins nursing him back to health, marveling at the black stripes which cover his body and the feline features of his face. She knows he’s not quite human and realizes she may have found a kindred spirit, someone whose secrets are as deadly as her own. When Nik awakes, his attraction to Juliette is instant. While she heals his body, he wants to heal her soul. But danger is lurking in the swamp, and the longer they stay together, the more likely they are to lose everything.

**Content Warning: May contain graphic content and sexual situations. Intended for 18+ Audience

She looked up at him as soon as he stepped into the room, and his heart stopped. Faded blue jeans replaced her business skirt and a white tank top took the place of her button up shirt. She was sitting with her feet dangling off his bed, her lips parted, her chest rising and falling. Her hand immediately went to her throat and he could smell her arousal, could sense it from across the room. Whatever she thought about him, at this moment, she wanted him, and there was no way she could deny it.
Wordlessly, he stalked over to her, aware of the way his cock hardened beneath the towel, pretty sure she could see the evidence of what she was doing to him. When he stood over her, his legs spread, arms across his chest, she looked up at him, and he knew he could take her here and now. Could, but wouldn’t. Not yet. Not until he had driven her beyond crazy with longing for him, not until she had felt a portion of what he had felt all those years she had been gone.
“Feel better?” When the words came out, he didn’t miss the raspy tone of her voice, the way it was thick and needy, filled with the same kind of longing coursing through him.
“No. Just clean.” It only took one more step and he was standing between her legs, pushing her thighs apart to make room for his body.
“Shh. No words. I just want you to feel.”
She sucked in her breath when he reached out and pulled her flush against him, her core connecting with the towel, connecting with what was under the towel, sending a growl through his body that ended up vibrating from his lips. His hands still on her hips, he leaned forward and pressed his forehead to hers, his eyes holding her the entire way. Her tongue darted out across her bottom lip, and it took every bit of strength he had not to nip it with his teeth, show her the alpha beast he had living inside him. But he didn’t. Instead, he let the rumbling in his throat do the talking for him, the purring sound filling the room, surrounding them both.
When he felt her shiver beneath him, he knew he had her, knew she was his. She could talk about freedom and family tradition and wanting to let go all she wanted, but he knew she was his and she would never be able to walk away from what they had.
“Get off me.” Her hands were on his chest, pushing against him, but the movement wasn’t very spirited. She couldn’t have swatted a fly away with that gentle touch, but it was enough to cause his cock to jerk in reaction.
“Not until you admit that you’ve missed me.” He nuzzled against her ear with his lips, resisting the urge to take the lobe between his teeth and bite her, demand her submission. It was part of their mating ritual, of what they had always done, of how they had always been. She remembered. The way her body was calling out to him, her scent permeating his brain, he knew she remembered and wanted him as badly as he wanted her.
“If I admit it, will you go away?” Her nails grazed against his shoulder, her actions in opposition to everything she was saying. A low moan escaped her throat, followed by a gasp, as if she had stopped herself—or tried to stop herself—from reacting to him.
“You’ll never get rid of me. Even if you live to be a hundred and you disappear into the Colorado wilderness, I will always be part of you.” He nipped her ear this time and was rewarded with another gasp, another moan. “You want me, Sage. You haven’t seen me for three years and your body needs me like it needs to breathe

Review of “NYPD Red 2” – James Patterson

NYPD Red—the task force attacking the most extreme crimes in America’s most extreme city—hunts a killer who is on an impossible mission.

A vigilante serial killer is on the loose in New York City, tracking down and murdering people whose crimes have not been punished. The number of victims grows, and many New Yorkers secretly applaud the idea of justice won at any price.

NYPD Red Detective Zach Jordan and his partner Kylie MacDonald are put on the case when a woman of vast wealth and even greater connections disappears. Zach and Kylie have to find what’s really behind this murderer’s rampage while political and personal secrets of the highest order hang in the balance. But Kylie has been acting strange recently—and Zach knows whatever she’s hiding could threaten the biggest case of their careers.

It’s getting harder and harder for me to review JP books. Why? Well, he seems to be missing the crucial “mystery” in his mystery books. In this story, we knew exactly who were the Hazmat killers.
For fans of JP, do you remember “Cat and Mouse” and “Jack and Jill”?
Those he wrote with suspense. I miss that.
Since I had to leave a review on a negative note, I will say this…… I’m happy to see Zach and Cheryl are moving forward in their relationship. They are a fun, sexy couple.

Author Showcase & GIVEAWAY CONTEST – Dawn Robertson

1. For those who might not be familiar with you, would you be a dear and tell the readers a little about yourself? How did you get your start in the writing business?

(Dawn) Hi Y’all!  I’m Dawn Robertson. I am most famously known for my Hers series, but have written several other titles. I reside in Florida with my brood of children and pets. Dodging seniors and soaking up the rays on the beach.
I am not really sure how I got started, really. One day I just started writing and over the course of a year, it turned into a novel.

2.  All writers fear
the dreaded “block”. Please tell us how you handle it.
(Dawn) Typically when I come in contact with my block I will do one of two things. One is stop writing and trying to force it. I will step away from the computer, or read a book. It helps to really free my mind. The second thing is to start working on another book. Which is probably why I have so many projects I am working on at one time.
3. Contrary to what some people envision about a romance
writer’s life, it’s not all glitz and glam. Well not for the majority of us.
With that bubble sadly busted, when you’re not writing, how to do you spend
your time?
(Dawn) Wrangling children mostly. I have three kids, who are ages six and under. Yes, I said UNDER. So when I say that my life is busy with Mommy duties. It is overrun with being a Mom.
4. I know many writers, such as Dirk and myself, keep their
pastime/career a secret. Do those close to you know you write? If so, what are
their thoughts?
(Dawn) Yes, people close to me know I write. When people ask me what I do for a living, I always proudly proclaim my title as an author. What I don’t tell them is the pen name I write under. Close friends and family know, but if you are outside of that circle you will remain in the dark. I find that it is important with young school-aged children.
5. Will you share with us your all time favorite authors? If
you’re like me, it’s a long list so give us your top ten.
(Dawn) Oh gosh. I hate getting put on the spot like that!
  1. Abbi Glines
  2.  Tara Sivec
  3.  Colleen Hoover
  4.  Raine Miller
  5.  Sydney Landon
  6.  RL Griffin
  7.  Madeline Sheehan
  8.  Kendall Grey
  9.  Carmen Jenner
  10.  Harper Sloan
6. If you could choose one book to go to the big screen,
yours or otherwise, which book would you choose and whom would you love see
casted in the parts?
(Dawn) Gosh, I would probably pick my own book. Hers, the first in the Hers series. I really think we need more badass chicks on the big screen. Seven, the main character would become a role model for women everywhere.
7. Would you care to tell us what you’re working on now?
That is if it’s not top-secret information. If so, just whisper it in my ear. I
swear it’ll go no further.
(Dawn) Well, I am co-writing a new novel with Author Lily White called The Good Girl. I am also writing the second novel in the Vegas Girl’s series with Jo-Anna Walker. The 5th book in the Hers series is underway as well. Gosh I am all over the place!
I also have a super secret project I am working on. It is going to be the first book in a new series. Because, I am just crazy enough to start another series before I have wrapped the Hers series.
8. Where can we find your stories and is there a particular
reading order?
(Dawn) Ok, these two can be read as stand alone novels: Crashed & Take Me Out.
Uncomplicated: A Vegas Girl’s Tale is the first book in the Vegas Girl’s trilogy.
Then comes the Hers series which goes in this reading order:
Finding Willow
Kink the Halls (novella)
This Girl Stripped
His (Coming 2014)
River (Coming LATE 2014)
9. Would you please share how your present and future fans
can contact you?
(Dawn) I can be found on Facebook at
Twitter: @EroticaDawn
And my email is always open!
10. Before we conclude this enlightening interview, do you
have anything else you’d like to share? The stage is all yours.
(Dawn) Thank you for this opportunity to reach out to your readers!  I hope everyone takes a moment to come by my page and say hi!

One Thing Emily Taylor has always longed for is a happily ever after. After a series of losses, betrayals, and a few crap-tastic dating experiences, she has settled into a simple life which includes little more than her cat, work, and a foul-mouthed best friend. Then, she meets Avery….
Avery Martin is a simple man, a country boy at heart who is working at his dream job as a fireman. When he responds to a nasty car accident, he is immediately taken with the petite blonde he finds pinned in the wreckage. Crossing professional lines, he strikes up a friendship with her.
But can they settle for friendship when their forever is staring them in the face?
Or will an ex with a vendetta drive them apart?

“What do we need all these blankets for?” Emily questioned while Avery piled them into the back seat of his truck. It was dusk and the sun was slowly starting to set behind the rows of trees which wrapped around the house. The night air was perfect, much cooler than the blazing day had been. It was comfortable, a southern, summer night.

“Trust me,” was all he said while he led her to the side of his pickup. Emily wore a light blue spaghetti strap sun dress which fell just below her knee, complimenting her eyes flawlessly. Her feet were bare; she held a pair of white jeweled flip-flops in her left hand. She slid up into the truck with Avery assisting her, his hand snug around her waist. His heart skipped a beat, taking in her beauty. It seemed like days since he’d been able to truly take a look at her and appreciate everything she had been taking on for him. The thought that she so willingly took this mess on for no other reason but her feelings for him, really made him understand the deeper connection they shared.

“Where are we going?” she questioned again, snapping him out of his daydream. Since dinner, Avery had been unusually quiet. The stress of the situation was starting to get to him and no matter what Emily tried to do to help, she felt as though she was failing. She let it slide, though. Had Jared actually stuck around two years ago when she dealt with her own loss, she would have been more distant than Avery was being.

“My favorite place in Georgia,” he said with a modest smile before rounding the truck to get in himself. The engine roared to life, and they traveled slowly around the back of the house on the grass. Soon enough a small dirt road appeared in between a break in the lush greenery. They drove slowly along the road, which began to slope down toward a small creek. Avery pulled the truck over to the side of the road and reversed it before coming to a stop at the edge of the water, leaving only a few feet from the tailgate to the water.

“When I was a boy, I loved this spot. No matter what bad would come my way, I could always come here and clear my mind.” He paused before turning toward Emily. When their eyes met, fireworks began to fly once again. The days of hurt and pain were slowly drifting away while their attraction drifted back, front and center. “I’ve never brought anyone here; it was just too special to share—until now…” he added before jumping out of the truck.

Emily followed suit, meeting him at the front of the truck as he walked around. He swept her off her feet, carrying her around to the bed of the truck. She hadn’t noticed before they left the house, but he’d thrown in an air mattress, and turned the bed of his truck into a comfy bed. “Join me, my lady?” He lowered her down into the bed of the truck. She lay comfortably on the mattress, resting her sandy hair on a pillow he’d grabbed off his gran’s couch. He turned to pull all the extra blankets around them he’d taken before leaving the house.

“Now the blankets make sense, you sneak,” she said with a chuckle. When he jumped over the side of the truck bed, she lost no time before snuggling next to him, resting her head in the crook of his arm. They lay together, speechless, just listening to the soundtrack of nature. The creek ran with the occasional splash, the crickets chirped their own symphony of nature, dogs barked in the distance, and while Emily’s head rested on Avery’s chest, she marveled at the sound of his heartbeat.

As the innings progressed and the Sox started raking in the runs, the crowd became livelier. Mr. Tattoo would turn around and flirt a little, making small talk. Sometimes he’d add his panty-wetting grin as an embellishment. He had no idea how effective it really was. I wanted him. By the time the seventh inning stretch came, to say we were drunk was an understatement. In keeping with Fenway tradition, the music started and we all chimed in on cue, “SWEEEEEEEEET CAROLINNNNNEEEEE BOM BOM BOM!” At that moment, Bentley jumped over the seats, grabbed my hands and pulled me to dance. ‘Can this really be happening?’ I thought. While still managing to enjoy the music and dance like idiots, I noticed that each of my friends was looking on with a measure of concern. But this moment and inside the moment, Bentley and I were perfect together. “GOOD TIMES NEVER FELT SO GOOD! SOO GOOD! SOO GOOD! SOO GOOD!” After the short-lived dance, the tough-looking, mysterious man dropped to his knee serenading me for all to see. Though my face lit up red out of embarrassment, I had never been serenaded before and enjoyed every minute of it. The ballpark photographers all clamored over to take a picture of the scene Bentley had created on the third baseline, clicking away in hopes of selling some souvenirs. When the song ended, he took my hand and placed a small kiss on it, dropped it and headed towards the exit, as though he had planned his early musical exit all along. His touch completely clouded my senses. The rush he caused in me was strongly euphoric, to the extent of which I had never experienced in my entire life. I wanted to touch him back but I was too frozen in shock to go after him. The onlookers which packed the rows around us had mixed responses to the display. Some stood with their mouths hanging open, while others whispered with their respective neighbors and some cracked jokes about my new boyfriend. The fact was they knew I never get serious about anyone. I had dated around through college, but had never taken a serious boyfriend. I wasn’t planning on doing so until I was done with college in a year. I had too much riding on my last year of college, including a full-time, real world job. I was never going to see him again and a flood of disappointment washed over me. But it didn’t matter, he was gone. That realization flooded me with both disappointment and longing. This beautiful man, who had just sent such a raw desire through me, was gone. Even more than before, I felt I didn’t just want his touch, but that I needed it. I was helpless against the power of my timidity and the strength of the rules which I’d given myself. “I think I am going to head out for one last beer before the game ends.” I headed in the general direction of my new fetish. Jake threw in his two cents. “Uh huh, like you need another beer. Good luck finding him. He’s long gone!” I let out a laugh and hurried away. Making my way down the tunnel my head spun back and forth in search of Bentley. After a few minutes, I gave up. On the way back from my disappointing search, I stopped for a beer. As I reached the section entry, I heard a voice behind me, “You were just going to let me walk away like that?” My heart soared. I turned around to find my new obsession standing so close to me that I could smell him. The mixture of cologne and beer was heavenly. He took me in his arms, right there in the tunnel for anyone to see, putting his arm around my waist tightly, the other on my face softly. As he brushed his knuckles down my cheek, he leaned in and brushed his lips against mine. His lips were warm and inviting. He tasted delicious, of mint mixed with beer. I melted in his arms. The way he made me feel in that moment was so foreign. He might as well have stripped me naked and taken me against the wall with the sensations that were going through my body. The kiss was unlike anything I had felt before. After his romantic gesture he let me go and backed away repeating his question. “Ugh… What the hell? I don’t know where your mouth has been!” I stuttered out. I couldn’t speak worth a shit. What the hell was wrong with me? His spell was potent, so much so that I couldn’t speak. I stuttered out something incoherent. Even I have no idea what I said. He let out a little chuckle at my bitchy demeanor. I was just stuck and confused. Why in hell was I letting this guy touch me and kiss me? The only explanation was that I had officially lost my damn mind. I had tried for years to control my damn behavior and now I was ruining all my hard work by losing control in public? “I’ll take your response as a good thing,” he said, grinning. As he walked away from me I was finally able to breathe again. When he put his arms around me, he’d made me feel naked. I watched him head for the entrance to our seating section, my clothing feeling suddenly constrictive. “I don’t need a guy in my life right now anyway!” I mumbled as I walked back to my seat. As I rounded the corner there was Shay and Jake chatting it up with Bentley. They’re conspiring with the enemy! When they noticed me they pretended like they weren’t doing anything wrong. There was no way I was letting Shay get away with it. As much as I didn’t want to admit to myself that Bentley had made an impression on me, he was the only thing on my mind. The game ended and Shay and I stumbled back to our apartment only a couple of blocks away. When I hit my bed I knew I had overdone it with the alcohol for the night and I was out in seconds.

~~ Review ~~
Last month, I had the pleasure and privilege of meeting Lyn and promoted this very book here for a generous giveaway. Unfortunately, I could not enter the giveaway due to hosting it. However, after reading the summary on it, I decided to buy my own copy AND I’m thankful I did.
I am highly impressed on Lyn’s gift of creating vivid and engaging fight scenes. It was like watching a 3D movie but in print. Yeah folks, she did that good of a job!
Now for my favorite characters – the twins. I shouldn’t like the bad guys but I found them comical and very likable.
I wish I could speak more on them or on the others players in the book but I don’t want to ruin the story for those who haven’t read it.
With that said, GET THE BOOK so we can dish about it.
