His muscular physique makes men cower before him and woman lose their minds with desire.

Tired of living under the thumb of her conservative family, she defies them when she accepts a job as the assistant to wrestling’s most notorious bad-boy. Phenomenal X has an animalistic nature that even good girl Anna finds hard to resist.

One night forced to share a bed in a sold-out hotel, lines blur between them and they quickly learn that one lustful night changes everything and neither one of them will ever be the same.

—–> REVIEW <—–

When I was a kid, I was hooked on professional wrestling. I was glued to the screen, mesmerized by the bigger than life stars and the action in the ring. When I reached my twenties, I went to a show. Even though I knew the fights were staged, I was still wrapped up in the wonder of “the show”.

Now in my thirties, I no long watch wrestling but I can still appreciate the dedication of everyone who constructs such elaborate storylines, builds up the characters, and the showmanship presented several days a week. It’s still awe inspiring.

For that, I found myself drawn to Xavier. A bad boy wrestler with a huge heart…. HECK YEAH!

My only complaint with this story was…. it was just more of the same. Troubled alpha male who’s traumatic past weaves doubt in his mind that he can love anyone; if he’s worthy of anyone’s love in return.

Then, boom – pow- whammo, he realizes it only when something profound occurs in their “storyline”.

See, nothing new but it was still a mighty fine story.

Warning: cliffhanger ending!

Review of “Possessing the Witch” – Elle James and “Siren’s Call” – Debbie Herbert

Possessing the Witch by Elle James
Selene Chattox doesn’t know what—or who—she’ll find when she follows her premonition to the river’s edge. When she discovers Gryph Leone, the spirit witch brings the injured stranger home, determined to resist the desire he stirs. But as he heals, she knows fate has brought them together. And as their passion ignites, so does the danger…

Siren’s Callby Debbie Herbert
Lily Borsage is the ultimate siren: gorgeous, aloof, and irresistible to all men in Bayou La Siryna. That is, until Nashoba Bowman returns to town. The Native American kid whose innocent first kiss Lily remembers fondly is all grown up, hot as an Alabama summer—and immune to Lily’s charms. What self-respecting mermaid could resist finding out more?

——> REVIEW <—–

Witches, shifters, and psychopaths should’ve held my interest but unfortunately I found the stories lacking in intrigue. The whack-jobs’ identities were no mystery at all and their climatic demises were far from climatic. Here I thought a battle between a wolf and lion (Possessing the Witch) would be epic. It was epic… epic fail.

Same disappointing battle between Nash/Lily/and their nemesis.

Review of “The Hook Up” – Kristen Callihan

The rules: no kissing on the mouth, no staying the night, no telling anyone, and above all… No falling in love.

Anna Jones just wants to finish college and figure out her life. Falling for star quarterback Drew Baylor is certainly not on her to do list. Confident and charming, he lives in the limelight and is way too gorgeous for his own good. If only she could ignore his heated stares and stop thinking about doing hot and dirty things with him. Easy right?

Too bad he’s committed to making her break every rule…

Football has been good to Drew. It’s given him recognition, two National Championships, and the Heisman. But what he really craves is sexy yet prickly Anna Jones. Her cutting humor and blatant disregard for his fame turns him on like nothing else. But there’s one problem: she’s shut him down. Completely.

That is until a chance encounter leads to the hottest sex of their lives, along with the possibility of something great. Unfortunately, Anna wants it to remain a hook up. Now it’s up to Drew to tempt her with more: more sex, more satisfaction, more time with him. Until she’s truly hooked. It’s a good thing Drew knows all about winning.

All’s fair in love and football…Game on

There are few times I can say a book surpasses my expectations.
The Hook Up’s cover was eye-catching, the book summary piqued my interest, and the contents of the pages had me smiling and flushed on many occasions.
Drew and Anna’s relationship had humor, anguish, and a multitude of steamy sexcapades.
This book was damn near perfect. My only flaw with it was ………I didn’t want it to end. That, my folks, doesn’t happen often to me.

This book depicts small town living to a tee.

Everyone will know your business and won’t hesitate to stick their noses into it. It’s truly hard to have any secrets.

However, the bright spot of small towns (also illustrated in this tale) is how people band together in good times and especially in bad.

If you’ve ever lived in a small town (like myself), you know how important a single business can be and when it goes under, families go under with it.

In Under the Lights, friends and neighbors banded together to save a football program which to some might seem like nothing but to them it was everything.

Again, since my school had little in the way of money, I’m glad all their hard work paid off because this town needed a win desperately.

Author Showcase – G.E. Stills (The Daughters of Darkness, Contest Included)

When Matt and Jillian meet, their relationship grows from companionship to lovers. An evil man, working for her former lover, finds Jillian and tries to kill her. Garnet and Megan discover Jillian before she dies and they save her from death. The salvation comes with a heavy price though, because Garnet and Megan are demons. Perhaps it would have been better for Jillian to die.

Garnet stared at the man across the hall. He had on a backpack and fannypack. That he was wearing latex gloves and sneaking out of the room made her suspicious immediately. Robbery? She had seen the woman staying there yesterday even spoken to her a couple times when they had met in the hall. The impression she got was the woman was a nice lady. Early this morning she had watched that woman come down the hall with a handsome man beside her. That man had left earlier in the afternoon. This man was not the same one.

Her demon senses kicked in and the short hairs on the back of her neck rose much like a dogs hackles. Danger, predator, her thoughts shouted. The man spoke in a low menacing voice and his eyes were cold pools of malice.

“Lady, you are in the wrong place at the wrong time.” At the same time, he took a gun out of his fannypack.

Garnet crossed the hall with inhuman speed but even so, it seemed like slow motion to her. Midway across to him, his gun chugged, a bullet tore into her and imbedded itself in her stomach. Garnet ignored the pain and finished crossing the distance. She ripped the gun from his hand and shoved him back into the woman’s room.

He reached for her throat and growled. “Who the hell are you?”

“A predator similar to you but my bet is I’m more deadly.” Her backhanded slap sent Boyd sailing across the room to crash against the opposite wall. He slid down it to become an unconscious heap on the carpet with his cheekbone shattered.

She glanced around the room and saw the woman renting this room. She was lying on the bed naked and hadn’t moved during all the noise and commotion. Something is wrong with her. What’s going on here. Garnet was beside the bed in instants. The woman’s chest rose and fell but her breathing was slow and she shuddered at the end of each breath. She checked the woman’s pulse. It was there but this too was slow and weak.

Garnet focused her attention on the man. And you have the answers to my questions. Answers you’re going to give me.

She knelt beside him. The right side of the man’s face sagged from the broken cheek she had given when she cuffed him and already his right eye had begun to swell shut. Blood trickled from his mouth and reddened his lips. A couple broken teeth lay on his chest. Garnet lightly slapped his left cheek to arouse him to consciousness. He groaned and opened his eye.

“What did you do to her?” she demanded.

“Fuck you,” he slurred.

Her expression hardened into a scowl. “Oh we are going to alright and when we have, you’re going to tell me everything.”

He glared up at her with his single open eye. The watery grey orb reflecting cold hatred. She braced a hand against his chest and wrapped the fingers of the other around his fanny pack. With a single jerk, she tore the pack free and tossed it away, next Garnet closed her hands on his shirt and pulled them apart sending buttons flying and exposing his chest. His belt was the next to go as she tore it open then tossed it away to join his fannypack. Hooking the fingers of one hand under his waistband and bracing her other hand on his bare chest she ripped them apart leaving only tattered remains around his ankles. His boxer briefs joined the pack and belt and left his midsection bare.

She met his gaze with hers again. The hatred in his eye had been replaced with terror. “You look like a beautiful woman but what are you?” his words trembled.

“It is good that you fear me. You have reason to. I’m you’re worst nightmare. You’re last one, you waste of a human.”

Happy Independence Day!

Today, many people across this great land will be celebrating by enjoying a BBQ, possibly drinking, and more than likely, participating in firework’s festivities. However, don’t forget why we are partaking in those activities.

I’d like to share a quote with you. One I hope will stick with you, as it did me.

Freedom has its life in the hearts, the actions, the spirit of men and so it must be daily earned and refreshed – else like a flower cut from its life-giving roots, it will wither and die. ~Dwight D. Eisenhower

Stay safe, y’all

I kept ping ponging between two suspects in this opening tale of the LOST series. I was 95% sure I knew who the whackadoodle was; however, that pesky 5% was nagging at me. I was doubting myself and, for that, I say fan-fucking-tastic job Cynthia. You knew how to spin a suspenseful tale. I loved every moment of it.

It also made me think “blondes really don’t have all the fun”. If I wasn’t grateful before for being a brunette, I am now. 🙂

In the second seductive LOST novel from New York Times bestselling author Cynthia Eden, an obsessed Last Option Search Team agent goes looking for trouble—and finds her in the Big Easy.
Dean Bannon comes to New Orleans for one reason only: to track down a missing sixteen-year-old girl. That’s before he meets the drop-dead gorgeous con artist who makes him want to lose his legendary control.
With her past, Emma Castille doesn’t claim to be psychic. She just notices things other people don’t. Like the fear in a runaway’s eyes—or the pain in an ex-FBI agent’s heart. Her chemistry with Dean is blistering, but Emma follows her passion . . . not someone else’s orders.
Then a madman breaks into Emma’s home and leaves a twisted message: You’re next. Now Dean refuses to let her out of his sight until he pries every last secret from her full, sexy lips. And suddenly Emma’s aching to give him everything he wants.

—–> REVIEW <—–
Despite the fact I figured out the twist to “Twisted” long before the stars of the show did, it didn’t deter from the greatness of this tale. Seriously, Cynthia dropped enough “clues” for the readers to solve the mystery before Dean, Emma, and the LOST team. However in this instance, the suspense wasn’t about who the whackadoodle was. No, it was about how the story would end and where because we all know the serial killer would not go quietly. What would be the fun in that if he did? 🙂
