Author Showcase – Mary Wehr

Erotic Contemporary
Blurb~
There are times when it’s best to allow your heart to overrule your head.
Being diagnosed with depression not only messed up Melanie Manning’s life, but her marriage as well. Her husband made it very clear that he considered her “damaged goods” and he didn’t have time to coddle a mentally ill wife. After his sudden death, Melanie knew she was destined to be alone. Loneliness sounded a hell of a lot better than exposing her illness to another man. Her self-esteem couldn’t survive another blow.
When state trooper Jack Horan meets Melanie, the attraction is immediate. Her deep blue eyes make him weak in the knees, but those eyes also hold a hint of sadness. Jack is determined to wipe away her pain, but how can he do that when Melanie refuses to let him get close to her?
Can Melanie learn to face her fears and trust her heart in the hands of another man?
Content Warning: some strong language, spanking, and sex play with a piece of fruit wielded by a hot guy in uniform.

Interview with Mary Wehr

1. Welcome,
Mary Wehr. For those who might not be familiar with you, would you be a dear
and tell the readers a little about yourself? How did you get your start in the
writing business?
(M)  I waited a long time
for this moment. My first story was rejected and I wasn’t surprised. I needed
to know what I was doing wrong. I submitted another story to Beachwalkpress. I
didn’t expect it to be accepted. All I was hoping for was some good advice. I
got that and more from Pamela Tyner. She’s a fantastic lady. She made this
happen.
2.  All writers fear
the dreaded “block”. Please tell us how you handle it.
(M) Not wellL
I get too frustrated with myself but I’m learning to walk away. Do something
else. Then after a while it goes away and I’m back on trackJ
3. Contrary to what some people envision about a romance
writer’s life, it’s not all glitz and glam. Well not for the majority of us.
With that bubble sadly busted, when you’re not writing, how to do you spend
your time?
(M) I love to bake. I also love
the outdoors. LOL, I’d rather cut the grass than do laundry. Winter drags for
me but that’s when I get my writing done.
4. I know many writers, such as Dirk and myself, keep their
pastime/career a secret. Do those close to you know you write? If so, what are
their thoughts?
(M) My family and friends know I write. They’re excited and happy
for me. LOL, my high school English teacher couldn’t wait to read it. She’s
also my older brother’s mother-in-law. I asked him to tell her not to buy it
because it’s Erotic. She bought it anyway and couldn’t finish it. It was too
filthy. (Yikes)
5. Will you share with us your all time favorite authors? If
you’re like me, it’s a long list so give us your top ten.
(M) There are so many. I love Sandra Hill. Her
Viking and Seal stories are great. Shayla Black and Maya Banks. Hannah Howell,
Delilah Devlin, Lindsay Sands, Lora Leigh, Lorelei James, Connie Mason and
Cassandre Dayne. There are so many more.
6. If you could choose one book to go to the big screen,
yours or otherwise, which book would you choose and whom would you love see
casted in the parts?
(M) I really liked
Cassandre Daynes’ ‘On Becoming His’. Denzel Washington would make a good ‘Luke’
and I think Scarlett Johannson would play ‘Jessie’ well.
7. Would you care to tell us what you’re working on now?
That is if it’s not top-secret information. If so, just whisper it in my ear. I
swear it’ll go no further.
(M) Rebel Ink
contracted my short erotic story, ‘Callie’s Reckoning’. I’ll be working on the
edits soon. Right now my WIP is a holiday short story.
8. Where can we find your stories and is there a particular
reading order?
(M)  LOL, there’s only one published at this time. You can find “A
Heart’s Endeavor’ on Amazon, All Romance, Barnes and Nobel. It’s also on my
publisher’s website, www.beachwalkpress.com

9. Would you please share how your present and future fans
can contact you?
(M) They can connect with me on facebook  https://www.facebook.com/mary.wehr.7
10. Before we conclude this enlightening interview, do you
have anything else you’d like to share? The stage is all yours.
(M)  I’d like to thank all readers for their
support. Also, thank you, Kameron for having me on your blogJ

There you have it, ladies and gents. I want to again thank
Mary Wehr for stopping by and I look forward to the next time we can sit down and

Interview with Zara Stoneley

Welcome,
Zara Stoneley.

For those who might not be familiar with you, would you be a
dear and tell the readers a little about yourself? How did you get your start in
the writing business?
Hi, and thanks for letting me visit your blog today!
Well, I’ve been writing stories for as long as I’ve been
reading them. I submitted my first novel, a thriller, when I was twelve years
old. Life then got in the way and I had a career in IT, ran a dog grooming
business and was a teacher for a while (I like variety!).
I never really stopped writing altogether though. I moved on
to writing romance when my son was a baby, but didn’t take it seriously until
2011. But it wasn’t until the start of 2012 when I saw a competition being run
by Xcite Books, at The Festival of Romance, that I decided to try my hand at
erotic romance. Last year they published two of my novels, a novella and a
short story. I’ve also signed a contract with Breathless Press for a short
story due out in the Spring, I self published a novel just before Christmas and
Lyrical Press are publishing my first contemporary romance in 2013.
All writers fear
the dreaded “block”. Please tell us how you handle it.

It took me a while to click with what was causing my block,
but I know now – and it always comes down to me not understanding the
characters motivations properly. If I hit a block I go back to looking at the
characters. What do they want? Why? What’s stopping them? Usually I uncover
some hidden conflict in them, some fear, something that has happened in their
past. And then I understand what they need to do.
Contrary to what some people envision about a romance
writer’s life, it’s not all glitz and glam. Well not for the majority of us.
With that bubble sadly busted, when you’re not writing, how to do you spend
your time?

I’ve got a part-time job with young children which is very
unglamorous and involves a lot of sitting on the floor and getting covered in
glue! I’m very good at avoiding housework and shopping, but unfortunately still
have to do some. I also love going for a walk when I’ve got time, guaranteed to
help me with some story ideas, and I do love horse-riding (good for blowing
away the cobwebs), but with recent health problems have had to put that on hold
for a bit.
I guess I’m happiest curled up on the sofa in jeans and
sweater, with my laptop or a good book. (Though I do love putting on the high
heels and going out too!!)
I know many writers, such as Dirk and myself, keep their
pastime/career a secret. Do those close to you know you write? If so, what are
their thoughts?

My family all know that I write, but some of them are a bit
shocked by what I write and refuse to read any of it! Most of my friends know,
but I tend to keep a quite low profile in the town because of my work with
young children. And I’m not sure everyone knowing would help my teenage son’s
street cred!
Will you share with us your all time favorite authors? If
you’re like me, it’s a long list so give us your top ten.
This is a really difficult one because I know so many
brilliant authors and don’t want to miss anyone out! I must admit though, that the
author’s I grew up with hold a special place. People like Shirley Conran, Jilly
Cooper, Stephen King, JRR Tolkien, Dick Francis, Jackie Collins, John Le Carre,
James Herbert, Ian Fleming, Alistair Maclean. I’ll read more or less anything
if it’s got a good gripping storyline!
If you could choose one book to go to the big screen,
yours or otherwise, which book would you choose and whom would you love see
casted in the parts?
I’m going to give you a strange answer here! I’ve got a WIP
called Jessica’s Boys, it’s about one feisty determined woman and a group of
hot men, and I would love to see it on the big screen – it would be perfect!
Cameron Diaz would make an elegant, determined Jess but I’d need to do some
serious screen testing for the Boys.
Would you care to tell us what you’re working on now?
That is if it’s not top-secret information. If so, just whisper it in my ear. I
swear it’ll go no further.

No secrets, lots on the go! I’m working on the next book in
the ‘Good Enough…’ series, finishing an erotic romance novella that a publisher
requested some time ago, I’m also planning out a follow up to ‘Riding High’
that’s been requested by a lot of readers (all about James), and Jessica’s Boys
is taking shape. Plus, I’ve got another contemporary romance on the go (which
will be published under my Susie Medwell name). A busy year ahead!

Where can we find your stories and is there a particular
reading order?

You can read my books in any order, although ‘Good Enough to
Share’ is Book 1 in a series, so others will be following shortly.
‘Good Enough to Share’ is only available on Amazon at the
moment Amazon
(com)
Amazon
(UK)
(It will be more widely available from the end of February 2013)
‘Riding High’ currently only on Amazon(com),
Amazon(UK),
Xcite Books
(it will be more widely available from the end of January 2013)
My other books are more widely available at Xcite Books,
Amazon, Barnes & Noble, ARe, I-Books and most good e-retailers. You can
find some of the links here
on my website
.
Would you please share how your present and future fans
can contact you?

I love to talk to people, you can find me at
Twitter – @zarastoneley
Before we conclude this enlightening interview, do you
have anything else you’d like to share? The stage is all yours.

Phew, more? Well I’d just like to say a massive thanks for
having me – it’s been great! Love the blog and I’m looking forward to seeing
you over at my place soon.

Review of “The MacCarrick Brothers Trilogy” – Kresley Cole

 Book description:

Can a Highlander steal his enemy’s bride and make her love him?

High in the Pyrenees, a band of mercenaries led by Courtland MacCarrick wages war for General Reynaldo Pascal. When Court turns on the brutal general, Pascal orders him killed. Court narrowly escapes and exacts revenge by kidnapping Pascal’s exquisite Castilian fiancée.

Noble heiress Annalía Tristán Llorente despises her towering, barbaric captor almost as much as she does Pascal. Her inexplicable attraction to the Highlander only fuels her fury. Yet nothing will stop her from returning to Pascal—for if she doesn’t wed him, she signs her brother’s death warrant, as well as her own.

From the moment Court discovers that Anna’s prim façade masks a fiery, brave lass, his heart’s ensnared and he dares to defy the curse that has shadowed his life—to walk with death or walk alone. But Pascal vows that he’ll hunt the two, never stopping until he’s destroyed them both. If they survive, can this hardened soldier of fortune convince the only woman he’s ever loved that she’s meant to be his?

Review:

I love Anna’s feisty attitude. She rarely censored her mouth and only chose her words carefully around Pascal. I don’t blame her though. For a time, he held her brother’s life in his hands.
Court: He might’ve not said it aloud but I’m sure he was thinking “What the bloody hell” on several occasions when trying to “handle” Anna. She kept the Scot on his toes and I enjoyed it greatly.

Heart rating system – 1 (lowest) and 5 (highest) Score: ❤❤❤❤

Book description:

How much temptation can a Highlander resist?

He tried to run …

In his youth, Hugh MacCarrick foolishly fell in love with a beautiful English lass who delighted in teasing him with her flirtatious ways. Yet he knew he could never marry her because he was a second son with no prospects, shadowed by an accursed family legacy. To avoid temptation, Hugh left home and trained as an assassin.
She tried to forget him …

Jane Weyland was devastated when the Highlander she believed would marry her abandoned her instead. Years later, when Hugh MacCarrick is summoned to protect her from her father’s enemies, her heartache has turned to fury—but her desire for him has not waned.
Will passion overwhelm them?

In hiding, Jane torments Hugh with seductive play. He struggles to resist her because of deadly secrets that could endanger her further. But Hugh is no longer a gentle young man—and toying with the fever-pitched desires of a hardened warrior will either get Jane burned … or enflame a love that never died.

Review:

In the second installment of the MacCarrick Brothers’ trilogy, Kresley’s heroine was once again a sensual, beautiful, and crafty virgin who used her powers of seduction to tempt, and keep on tempting, Mr. Hugh MacCarrick.

Since they shared a past, Jane knew her flirty ways would not be truly ignored. Hugh did hold out much longer than I think most men would’ve in his position.

My only negative critique, I wish she’d utilized Grey more in the story. For being the villain, he felt more like an afterthought to me. Maybe Kresley didn’t want to put too much focus on him but since Hugh and Jane were brought back together because of the threat of Grey’s retaliation against her father and Hugh himself, my opinion is he needed to be more prominent on the pages.

Heart rating system – 1 (lowest) and 5 (highest) Score: ❤❤❤❤

Book description:
Can a ruthless Highlander ever learn to love … ?

Burning vengeance …

Ethan MacCarrick was a heartbreakingly handsome rake until a powerful nobleman ordered him brutally beaten and his face scarred for a crime he didn’t commit. Ethan’s reprisal—bankrupting the nobleman and forcing his exile—does little to appease his wrath. Ten years later, a haughty, mysterious beauty enchants Ethan—the daughter of his enemy. At last, Ethan will have the revenge he’s craved; he’ll promise her marriage, seduce her, then cast her aside.
Bitter hardships …

When Madeleine Van Rowen’s family was suddenly plunged into destitution and dishonor, she steeled herself against further heartache. She never weakened, never trusted, until a towering, scarred Highlander relentlessly pursues her, breaking down her defenses.
At what price forgiveness?

The passion between them burns hotter than Ethan’s fury, and soon he finds he can’t let her go. But when Madeleine uncovers the truth about him, can Ethan convince her to accept all he now offers—when he once destroyed everything she had?

Review:

In the prior two stories, Ethan was pretty much an ass. It wasn’t until this story we find out why. Dang, if I’ve been wrongly accused of a heinous act and tortured, I’d probably be a surly person too.

Maddie: I felt sorry for the poor girl. Every since she was a child, luck wasn’t on her side. Like Ethan, she was scarred both physically and emotionally. This truly made them the perfect couple  because finding each other, falling in love, healed those emotional wounds. The physical ones weren’t of importance.

As Michael Bolton famously sang…….

Love is a wonderful thing
Make ya smile through the pouring rain
Love is a wonderful thing
I’ll say it again and again
Turn your world into one sweet dream
Take your heart and make it sing
Love, love is a wonderful thing

Please forgive my cheesy moment but his lyrics truly did pop into my head as I wrote the review.

Heart rating system – 1 (lowest) and 5 (highest) Score: ❤❤❤❤

Review:
For a person who doesn’t care for “historical” books, I absolutely loved this tale. Just when I thought I had everything figured out, Shiralyn threw a curveball at me. I think at one time I shook my head and said, “No freaking way!” Shiralyn, you did one helluva job keeping me on my toes and for that, you got five stars.

Author Showcase – Edward Tailor

Edward Tailor Bio
They
say an apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, for me, that’s true. I live in the
same rural village in the county of Essex where I was born.  I am the
youngest brother to three wonderful sisters, who have supported my every
whim.  Since I left my local high school in the late 80’s, I have
qualified to be a Cabinetmaker, Carpenter, Bricklayer, and Electrician and in
Sports massage.  I’ve been a member of the Territorial Army, worked in an
export warehouse, managed an Australian plant nursery and worked for a big
housing developer. Until I decided, I needed to be my own boss and became
self-employed.  Self-employment, for me, can mean long lonely day and
thanks to the development of the iPod, listening to stories helps pass the
time. I have and still do, listen to everything and anything, from the
classics, to Sci-fi, fantasy to erotica. I can’t help it, I can listen for ten
hours a day, six days a week, so that’s a lot of literature.  Through
sourcing authors, I was luckily enough to be offered a position to try my hand
at writing, and that, in turn, led, me to writing short stories.  What the
future hold, I can’t possible say, but,  luckily for me, I have a
wonderful supportive wife and  son who keep me grounded.

Interview with Sascha Illyvich

1. Welcome, Sascha Illyvich. For those who might not be familiar with you, would you be a
dear and tell the readers a little about yourself? How did you get your start in
the writing business?

(S) Honestly?
My hairdresser suggested almost 15 years back that I should write if
that was what I really wanted.  The
basics, I’m Sascha Illyvich, erotic romance author and Bad Boy of Romance.  I’ve been published over the last 14 years
via e-publishers.  My work spans multiple
genres. I’m currently represented by Corvisiero Literary Agency and publicity
is handled by The Author Success Coach.
2.  All writers fear
the dreaded “block”. Please tell us how you handle it.

(S) Don’t
have that problem.  Honestly.  Writers block comes when you’re not plotting
properly and have no idea where the story is supposed to go.  Because I have a meticulous  plotting method, this is generally not my problem.
However, there are times when I’m burned out, which is different.  That’s remedied by leaving the computer or
screwing around for a day or so.
Needless to say, I rarely do either or.
3. Contrary to what some people envision about a romance
writer’s life, it’s not all glitz and glam. Well not for the majority of us.
With that bubble sadly busted, when you’re not writing, how to do you spend
your time?

(S) Glass of my favorite liquor or wine, Don Cervantes Masterpiece Platinum
cigar in my hand, and I’m usually at Occidental Cigar Club.  That’s the only real downtime I have.
4. I know many writers, such as Dirk and myself, keep their
pastime/career a secret. Do those close to you know you write? If so, what are
their thoughts?

(S) Yup.  Good thing they know
too.  Now the thing is, I’m less
concerned with their opinions unless they’re diehard readers. In which case, I
care that they buy!
5. Will you share with us your all time favorite authors? If
you’re like me, it’s a long list so give us your top ten.

(S) Top
few I can do.  JR Ward, Christine Feehan,
Rebecca York, Janelle Denison, Lori Foster, Laurel K. Hamilton, Angela Knight,
Joey W. Hill.  Alexandria Rayne
6. If you could choose one book to go to the big screen,
yours or otherwise, which book would you choose and whom would you love see
casted in the parts?

(S) Nothing I have currently out yet, but there
are stories in the works for such things.
As to whom, I barely know who anyone in Hollywood is because I don’t
watch much TV.
7. Would you care to tell us what you’re working on now?
That is if it’s not top-secret information. If so, just whisper it in my ear. I
swear it’ll go no further.

(S) Right
now?
As of this blog going
live, Bound After Midnight will be released.
Three paranormal erotic romance stories with bondage.  My story – Finding Eternity – deals with a
warrior lost until he is rescued after battle, by a beautiful vampire who seeks
only to serve him and be owned in his heart.

I’m
currently working on the next book in my Nights of Lust series.  The premise:
A small group of unlikely heroes
faces an entire Criminal Organization for the fate of the World while
discovering true love.

Saritza Hernandez is
shopping around the first book in my Burning Desires series: Burning for
Derrick.  The plot of this fine book:  Derrick quit the spy business after an
operative went awry and thought he was finished until a client comes asking him
for protection of his sister, lead singer of the infamous death metal band Ark
KaotiK.  With her voice, she can control even the strongest of determined
shifters and humans alike.  Everything is good until she’s targeted for
kidnappers to abuse her power.  Neither she nor Derrick count on falling
in love.
I’ve started edits on the second book in that series.
8. Where can we find your stories and is there a particular
reading order?
(S) http://saschaillyvichauthor.com and the only books with a reading order
are Siddella’s Submission and Siddella’s Surrender, as they were written as two
parts to one book.
9. Would you please share how your present and future fans
can contact you?
(S) Twitter:
@Saschaillyvich – I don’t auto follow but I do check my @s.
      Facebook:
facebook.com/saschaillyvich
10. Before we conclude this enlightening interview, do you
have anything else you’d like to share? The stage is all yours.

(S) I’ll be teaching BDSM
in Romance March 1-29th for LowCounty RWA chapter online.  Details:
http://lowcountryrwa.com/workshops/all-workshops/#MAR3
Oh and I’ll be at
Frolicon on the Ink track!
