Hulk: The Complete Collection Volume 1 by Jeph Loeb (Comic Book Review)

Red alert! There’s a sadistic new red-skinned Hulk in the Marvel Universe, with keen intelligence and a radioactive touch! Who or what is he? And with Marvel’s heroes powerless against him, will it take a Hulk to catch a Hulk? It’s an explosive battle as the red and green Hulks collide! But even as Bruce Banner is attacked by a pack of wild Wendigos, She-Hulk recruits a cavalry of super heroines including Valkyrie, Thundra, Ms. Marvel and Storm! Plus: the Defenders are reassembled to take down the Red Hulk, but he’s got a team of his own!

Hulk has to be the most badass character Marvel has created for us. He is a “man” of few words. Yeah, I like he lets his actions speak for himself.

In this collection, we met Red Hulk (Rulk) who was a chatterbox but also brought the pain. His battles against everyone under the sun created a fast pace storyline.

Most memorable scene à When Rulk took Thor’s hammer. Sorry folks but I like when Thor gets taken down a notch. He irritates the hell out of me.

 Now the epic flow of words wouldn’t have packed quite the power punch without the illustrative talents of Ed McGuinness, Arthur Adams, and Frank Cho.

 You three have mad skills!!!! Errrr, you four. We mustn’t forget Jeph Loeb. 🙂

 And Super Chicks, better luck next time!

Death of Wolverine by Charles Soule (Comic Book Review)

All roads must end somewhere, and every hero’s story eventually comes to a close. For Logan, the century-old mutant known as Wolverine, that time is now. The loss of his healing factor and the traumatic events of “Three Months To Die” have all led to this, the single most important X-Men event of the decade. Over the years, Logan has been a warrior, a hero, a renegade, a savage, a samurai, a teacher – and so much more. Logan has spent decades being the best there is at what he does…but even the best fade away eventually. And now, the greatest X-Men hero will play a role he’s never played before in this solemn special event brought to you by industry superstars Charles Soule and Steve McNiven.

I hate to see such a fan favorite cease to exist but I thought Charles/Marvel orchestrated a remarkable exit.

The majority of the finale was rather boring but the ending made it worth waiting for.

And Steve McNiven (Illustrator), you did a helluva good job bringing the story to life!

Like most comic enthusiasts, I was curious to read about the new Thor. I didn’t find myself getting lost in her story. However, I’m totally diggin’ her attire. Wicked cool! I can already see many female fans deciding to be “Thor” at Comic-Con and can you blame them. Check her out!

Deadpool: The Complete Collection (Volume 1) by Daniel Way and Andy Diggle (Comic Book Review)

Daniel Way’s hilarious, action-packed run begins here! When the Merc with a Mouth is hired to rub out Wolverine, sparks will fly! But when both men can regenerate any wound in minutes, how can either one expect to finish off his foe? And whoever wins will have to face Wolverine’s murderous son, Daken! Then: The Skrulls have infiltrated Earth, but nobody warned them about Deadpool! The invaders replicate Deadpool’s healing factor in a new generation of Super-Skrulls – but why is Deadpool himself leading this brigade against Earth? And when Norman Osborn double-crosses Deadpool, the maniacal merc unleashes a full-on assault against Avengers Tower! Norman must pull out all the stops – and that means deploying his new team of bloodthirsty, black-ops Thunderbolts!

~~~Review~~~
(Wolverine: Origins #21-25) I love when DP and Wolverine’s paths cross. I know I’m in for a wild ride and this time was no exception. When DP dropped a piano on Wolverine’s head, I actually laughed out loud. It appears Daniel Way was inspired by vintage Warner Bros. *grins*
(Deadpool #1-12 and Thunderbolts #130-131) Deadpool training Super Skrulls. All I can is OMFG. I read the “training” scenes over and over and (yeah you guessed it) over again.  I got two words for…. KNOCK KNOCK *smiling*
Oh yeah, the rest of this collection was  pretty spectacular too. That is, if you like the idea of DP making the moves on Black Widow, Taskmaster dressing up as DP to have a bit of fun against the Thunderbolts and Bullseye taking on DP at the end of this epic tale.
Poor, Deadpool, I can’t imagine the beast of a headache he had when Bullseye nailed him with the arrow to the noggin. Somethings Excedrin Migraine just can’t fix. *belly laugh*
