Riding Wild & Riding Temptation by Jaci Burton (2 Book Reviews)

He’s a Harley-riding ex-thief working undercover for the government. She’s a gun-toting ex-socialite hired to protect a valuable museum exhibit. But in her attempt to stop a heist, she never anticipated having her breath and her heart stolen…

Mac Canfield was the last man Lily West expected to see again, never mind aim her gun at. But here he was, the bad boy who’d broken her heart years ago-still a thief, this time high-jacking a priceless artifact—and it was all she could do to push aside the memories of how it felt to have his perfectly chiseled body next to hers.

Mac was no less shocked to see the beautiful girl-next-door all grown up, threatening to shoot him on the spot. Little did she know she was blowing his cover-and now he had to figure out how to get her out of harm’s way without succumbing to his crazy desire to take her on a hot trip down memory lane.

Unfortunately, Lily has no intention of going anywhere with Mac. Which means he has to resort to kidnapping. Unless, of course, she agrees to let him take her for the kind of ride destined to drive them both unbelievably wild.

As a woman who loves motorcycles and is in love with a biker, I couldn’t wait to start book one of the series. I loved how Jaci showed the camaraderie between bikers. It’s true, you don’t have to know a biker personally to feel welcomed at an event. They are truly some of the nicest people who’ll ever meet. And as she portrayed in the rally scene, they will absolutely do anything to help a person out. Truly great people!

My only negative feedback regarding the book is the “under the influence” scene. I know she addressed Mac’s reservation about chasing after Lily when he knew his faculties weren’t in proper order but he did so anyways. I won’t say why he did so. Yes I could see why he had to go after her. However, as someone who has rode a bike for many years, the idea of anyone riding knowing very well they should’t be hit a bad cord with me.

Other than that, a brilliant and sexy read. And I do mean SEXY!

He’s a biker working undercover for the Feds. She joined the Wild Riders for reasons of her own. Together, they’re burning up the asphalt and tearing headlong into danger and passion…

Naked under leather.

Ever since runaway Jessie Matthews teamed up with the gang of special ops bikers, the Wild Riders have thought of her as their kid sister. Except for Diaz Delgado. Over the past few years he’s been watching the budding of a ripe young woman. Jessie’s glad somebody finally sees her for who she is—and she’s thrilled it’s Diaz. His dark good looks and killer body have tempted her since day one.

Diaz’s unbrotherly urges have been hard to fight but the last thing he’d want to do is hurt Jessie and break up the gang. But when they both go undercover to infiltrate a group of killer survivalists, he knows it’ll be hard to keep his distance—especially when the mission takes a risky turn. Now Diaz has no choice but to open himself up to the one woman who may be strong enough to take him on.

If you love stories featuring outdoor sex/voyeurism, then you’re going to want to purchase this book. Besides having nookie outside alone, Diaz and Jessie also engaged in a sexual relations for their initiation into the Skulls. The scene wasn’t done in a raunchy way, but one that will heat up a reader.

Besides the abundant amount of love making going on, there was plenty of action with the characters having their clothes on. Shots were fired, injuries occurred but at the end of the day, the good guys did prevail. Now isn’t that what we all want in a story? A happy ending. 🙂

Inferno: Chronicles of Nick by Sherrilyn Kenyon (Book Review)

Series: Chronicles of Nick (Book 4)

~ The heat is on, and a new threat to humanity has risen…

Nick has his driver’s license and he’s not afraid to use it. But turning sixteen isn’t what he thought it would be. While other boys his age are worried about prom dates and applying for college, Nick is neck deep in enemies out to stop him from living another day. No longer sure if he can trust anyone, his only ally seems to be the one person he’s been told will ultimately kill him.
But life spent serving the undead is anything except ordinary. And those out to get him have summoned an ancient force so powerful even the gods fear it. As Nick learns to command and control the elements, the one he must master in order to combat his latest foe is the one most likely…

I love SK dedicated a series to Nick so we can watch him grow from a awkward teenager to Mr. Badass.

In book four, fans will be clued in on what and who Koda really is.

Adarian, Artemis, Simi, Ash, and Kyrian will have their “screen time” and be prepared for many shockers such as the ending. What a cliffhanger!!

Before I end this review I want to speak about Grim. He was a freaking hoot. Yeah, I never thought I would say that but he was. Him as a germaphobe was hilarious. Yup, you heard me right. He’s a HUMUNGOUS supporter of hand sanitizer!

Nautier and Wilder by Lora Leigh and Jaci Burton (Book Review)

#1 New York Times bestselling author Lora Leigh returns to the relentlessly scorching backdrop of her Nauti Boys series with an all-new novella of a man—bad to the bone—and the one woman who knew he was trouble. That’s why she couldn’t let him go.

New York Times bestselling author Jaci Burton once again blisters the asphalt with an all-new novella in her Wild Riders series. A hot biker craves a life of passion and danger—and finds it with the woman he’s sworn to protect.

Review of Lora Leigh’s Nauti Siren

When I sit down to read a LL story, I know I can expect plenty of action in and out of the sheets. Nauti Siren had plenty of both. The epilogue had me zooming over to her website for insight when Lyrica’s story was slated for release because I must know who entered her room.

Review of Jaci Burton’s Riding to Sunset

Before reading this short story, I wasn’t familiar with The Wild Riders Series. However after I finished it, I went straight to Amazon and put the series on my TBR list. Yes, I was that impressed with her creation. It had heat and suspense. A very intriguing read!

Alex Cross, Run by James Patterson (Book Review)

DON’T LOOK, ALEX CROSS
Top plastic surgeon Elijah Creem is renowned for his skills in the operating room, and for his wild, no-expense-spared “industry parties,” bringing in underage exotic dancers and models for nights of drugs, champagne, and uninhibited sex. That is, until Detective Alex Cross busts one of Creem’s lavish soirees and ruins his fun. Now Creem is willing to do anything to avoid going to jail.

DON’T THINK, ALEX CROSS
But Alex doesn’t have time to dwell on that case. A beautiful woman has been found murdered in her car, a lock of her hair viciously ripped off. Then a second woman is found hanging from a sixth-floor window with a brutal scar slashed across her stomach. When a third mutilated body is discovered, rumors of three serial killers on the loose send Washington D.C. into an all-out frenzy.

JUST RUN
Alex is under so much pressure to solve these three grim cases that he hasn’t noticed that someone else investigating him-someone so obsessed and so twisted that they’ll do anything-ANYTHING- to get the vengeance they require. Alex Cross, Run is James Patterson’s most unrelenting story yet-a white-hot, sensational thrill ride with the most extreme and gripping characters Patterson has ever brought to life.

For me, James has struck gold with the latest installment in the Alex Cross’ series. Yes, he revealed who the three perps were early on but I didn’t mind at all. Their story played out remarkably well. His characters had depth again which I felt were lacking in some of his other stories as of late.

Once again, I found myself longing for a few more pages.

Marvelous job, JP!

Beauty Awakened by Gena Showalter (Book Review)

His name is Koldo. He is scarred, powerful, his control legendary-and he lives only for vengeance, determined to punish the angel who viciously removed his wings. But if he yields to the forces of hatred, he will be kicked from the heavens, eternally damned.

She is his last hope. Nicola Lane was born with a defective heart, yet this fragile human shows surprising strength as demons stalk her every move, determined to end her. She is the key to Koldo’s deliverance…and his downfall. Though he fights duty, destiny and his first addictive taste of desire, his toughest battle will be the one for Nicola’s life-even if he has to sacrifice his own….

Review:

Koldo’s backstory is beyond horrific. To be physically and verbally abused by your parents, to crave their love but be denied – heartbreaking. After all he had to endure in his life, Koldo came close to letting his anger and revenge cloud his heart completely until Nicola entered his life and captured his heart, imprinting herself in his soul.

As we know from Gena’s other stories, her female characters are not weak. Nicola’s path took a surprising turn towards the end of the book and I know it will please many readers.

Now for those who are having Lords of the Underworld withdrawals, William of the Dark aka  the Ever Randy does make a cameo appearance. The passage with him and Thane is short but highly entertaining.

The final pages of the story will definitely make the Lords fans happy. Oh Kane, I can’t wait to dive into your story, The Darkest Craving. (July 30th, 2013)
