Dances with Demons by Lori Handeland (Book Review)

51nncuvc0kl-_sx311_bo1204203200_

When a demon comes calling Megan Murphy’s bar blows sky-high, and she’s suddenly on the run with her klutzy day shift bartender, the exceedingly gorgeous Quinn Fitzpatrick.

Quinn has been in love with Megan from the moment he saw her. Too bad he’s living a lie. He isn’t as klutzy as he makes out, nor as human as she believes. Quinn was sent to protect Megan from anything that slithers.

But there’s danger afoot, and the best place for them both is one that’s far, far away. A place Quinn Fitzpatrick once called home. Ireland–land of fairies and gargoyles, shape-shifters, dragons and more.

There they will dance with demons, and Megan will uncover every secret Quinn has.

It’s rare that the hero in the story is a virgin. That, I found refreshing.
He was also a shifter, but was also something more. What else…..yeah, I’m not telling you. You’ll have to buy the novella and discover that secret for yourself. *grins*

I was thrilled to see Liz back in the series. She was “missing” in the last short story and it wasn’t the same. Now if only Sawyer would return. He’s one of my favorite characters and I know his story isn’t over. Can’t be.

Illusion by Sherrilyn Kenyon (Book Review)

Be careful what you wish for…You just might get it.

Nick Gautier is tired of his destiny. He doesn’t want to be the son of a demon who’s fated to end the world. Nor does he want to see another demon or other preternatural creature who wants to kill or enslave him. He just wants to be normal and have normal problems like everyone else.

But normality isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. When he gets sucked into an alternate reality where his mother has married his mentor and his Atlantean god best friend has become a human geek, he begins to understand that no life is free of pain, and that every person has a specific place in the universe… Even the son of a hated demon.

Most of all, he sees that his powers aren’t the curse he thought they were, and that the world needs a champion, especially one its enemies can’t imagine rising up to defend the ones he should destroy.

Old enemies and new friends square off for a major battle that will either restore Nick to his real world, or end him forever.

Warning – spoilers included in review!!!

Nick awakens to an alternate state and let me tell you, it was wonkie as hell.

*Nick 2 was a whiny ass boy
*Ash was married to Artemis
*Friends were now foes
*Bubba was married to Cherise
*We met high school Ash and Simi

I loved it.

We also found out more about Nekoda. (Keep her daddy’s name under wraps)
Savitar was prominent in the alternate universal and he was pretty much the same aka I STILL HEART HIM!

And Nick…..oh yeah, he was Mr. Badass with a heart of gold in this latest installment too.

I can’t wait for the next book!

Hope Ignites by Jaci Burton (Book Review)

When a movie crew asks to film on his cattle ranch, Logan McCormack doesn’t expect Desiree Jenkins, the young, sought-after star, to be so open, so down-to-earth, or so intimately interested in him. But the last thing a loner like Logan needs is a distraction like Des, who wouldn’t understand what it’s like to live peacefully off the land.

But it’s Logan who doesn’t understand. What Des wants is an escape from paparazzi and gossip columns, and she’s found it at Logan’s ranch. Now it’s up to her to prove that she’s like any other girl looking to be accepted for who she is. And she’s hoping that it’s by this real life cowboy who has everything it takes—and more—to give her the kind of happily ever after that can’t be found in the movies.

Do you love cowboys?
Do you love when a woman takes charge and speaks her desires?
Oh yeah, I do too.
I loved how Des flirted with Logan. Literally came out and said she wanted him in her bed. That is hot!

Colt, her best friend and movie co-star, oh he was quite dreamy too. I hope him and his boyfriend Tony make appearances in future releases because I believe their story has just begun.

NYPD Red 2 by James Patterson (Book Review)

NYPD Red—the task force attacking the most extreme crimes in America’s most extreme city—hunts a killer who is on an impossible mission.

A vigilante serial killer is on the loose in New York City, tracking down and murdering people whose crimes have not been punished. The number of victims grows, and many New Yorkers secretly applaud the idea of justice won at any price.

NYPD Red Detective Zach Jordan and his partner Kylie MacDonald are put on the case when a woman of vast wealth and even greater connections disappears. Zach and Kylie have to find what’s really behind this murderer’s rampage while political and personal secrets of the highest order hang in the balance. But Kylie has been acting strange recently—and Zach knows whatever she’s hiding could threaten the biggest case of their careers.

It’s getting harder and harder for me to review JP books. Why? Well, he seems to be missing the crucial “mystery” in his mystery books. In this story, we knew exactly who were the Hazmat killers.

For fans of JP, do you remember “Cat and Mouse” and “Jack and Jill”?

Those he wrote with suspense. I miss that.

Since I had to leave a review on a negative note, I will say this…… I’m happy to see Zach and Cheryl are moving forward in their relationship. They are a fun, sexy couple.

~~ Review ~~

Last month, I had the pleasure and privilege of meeting Lyn and promoted this very book here for a generous giveaway. Unfortunately, I could not enter the giveaway due to hosting it. However, after reading the summary on it, I decided to buy my own copy AND I’m thankful I did.

I am highly impressed on Lyn’s gift of creating vivid and engaging fight scenes. It was like watching a 3D movie but in print. Yeah folks, she did that good of a job!

Now for my favorite characters – the twins. I shouldn’t like the bad guys but I found them comical and very likable.

I wish I could speak more on them or on the others players in the book but I don’t want to ruin the story for those who haven’t read it.

With that said, GET THE BOOK so we can dish about it.
