Cowboy Boots for Christmas by Carolyn Brown (Book Review)

51nvgzpkwyl-_sx302_bo1204203200_

‘Tis the season for…
Feasting
Frolicking
And…Feuding?

All he wants for Christmas is peace and quiet…
After two tours in Afghanistan, retired Army sniper Finn O’Donnell believes his new ranch outside the sleepy little town of Burnt Boot, Texas, is the perfect place for an undisturbed holiday season. But before he can settle in, an old friend shows up looking for protection and a place where nobody knows her name.

But that’s going to take a miracle…
Callie Brewster must relocate to protect her young nephew, Martin, and the only person she trusts is her old Army friend, Finn. Burnt Boot seems like the perfect place to be anonymous, but it turns out a small town with big drama is no place to hide…

When Callie arrived on Finn’s doorstep with her nephew/adopted son, Martin, I assumed the story would revolve around their love being born while they awaited the trial in which Martin had to testify in as being the eye witness to a murder.

However, Carolyn didn’t really address the incident until the very end and only then did she spend a couple lines on it. She did give Martin a couple nightmares but those scenes lasted (again) a few lines.

Basically, the plot of the story wasn’t about what united Callie and Finn. The story was about two people who had feelings for each other while in the military, didn’t disclose them, but after reuniting, they fell into a natural rhythm of partnership in life and in love.

During their journey to HEA they dealt with feuding neighboring families, unexpected houseguests and their own lingering doubts if they were meant to be.

Of course, as you can imagine, they were meant to be and together they created a big happy family.

Read the story and discover exactly how big their family became in such a short span of time.

~~Review~~

If you are seeking touchy-feely Christmas stories to warm your heart, then you are in luck.

Within these three stories you’ll read about military men who either renewed a past relationship or created a new one.

They are too sweet, borderline cute. In other words, my erotic fans, the love scenes are a far cry from rated X…maybe not even rated-R.

Holiday Message…..

With the holidays fast approaching, people are busier than ever with work, family, and whatever else tends to pop up. And with that, stress will strike many of us HARD. It raises its ugly head and lets face it, people will become a wee bit cranky. Ok, maybe more than a wee bit.

And why?

Simple. We forget to stop, relax, and be thankful for what we have and not dwell on what we”need”.

So before you step out the door this morning, look around at what you have and think about what others might need. Think how can I help someone in need this holiday.

Folks, if you have the spare cash, buy a gift for a child less fortunate (options available in every area), buy someone’s lunch, pay for their coffee, donate to a cause, etc.

If you are low on funds, there are other ways you can help brighten someone’s else day. Volunteer your time at a shelter/soup kitchen, donate whatever items you can clothes/blankets to a shelter, and so on.

Basically what I am saying is its ok to shop and buy yourself or your loved ones gifts. I do the same. However, remember there are those less fortunate than you so try to help at least one person out this holiday season and maybe they will pay the generosity forward and then it might continue on well past the month of December. *smiling*

See what I am aiming for here? A world where we are spreading MORE LOVE and LESS HATE.

Isn’t that what we all want? It’s my holiday wish.

What to Do with a Bad Boy by Marie Harte (Book Review)

Series: McCauley Brothers
Book 4 in series
Genre: Contemporary
Format: eBook, Print

WHAT IS WITH MIKE McCAULEY?

Every time Delilah Webster runs into Mike McCauley, he practically bites her head off. The rough-and-tumble contractor clearly has baggage. Del has her own emotional scars and knows she’s better off keeping her distance, but Mike’s temptation in jeans and a T-shirt and she’s always been good with her hands…

There’s something about the strong-willed mechanic that sets Mike’s motor running–and scares the hell out of him. Mike has loved and lost and will never hurt like that again, even if that means walking away from a woman who makes him feel alive for the first time in years.

When a simple kiss turns hot and heavy, Mike discovers he can’t stay away, no matter how certain he is they’re destined to crash and burn…

Oh how I love the little rascal Colin, Mike’s son. He reminds me so much of my daughter it’s freaking scary. They are both sneaky, a mouth too big for their ages, and ears that hear every damn word. But goodness, they are so damn cute and a joy to be around.

Now let me speak about Mike and Del. They both came into the relationship with major baggage, like most people. He was still grieving over his deceased wife who died giving birth to Colin. And Del, she never felt worthy of love thanks to her mother and I use the term “mother” loosely.

However, Mike realized he could allow himself to love again. That in doing so, he wasn’t tarnishing what him and his wife had.

Del, with all her tattoos/piercings/rough exterior attitude, learned it’s okay to let someone in besides her family. She admitted to herself she wanted more in life besides working in the shop and finally got it.

Best scenes in the book: Del putting Grace in her place. Colin being all spy-like with J.T. Basically any scene involving J.T. Speaking of the tattoo artist, I want his book!!!
