Phantom Desire: Psychic Menage Book 2 by Houston Havens (Book Review)

51v7fll1abl

Mind traveler Chandra Lamar is on the run, not only from her post-catastrophic dystopian government but from a past she can’t remember. A psychic vision pushes her to recall her purpose for being, but it’s a ghost that awakens her desires for a life she fears she’ll never have. Both push her to remember the past because it threatens what she wants in the now, the Nodin men.

Andonis Nodin battles to accept his failures. The heavy burden nearly breaks him when he can’t save a loved one from the grim reaper’s grip and questions his desire for Chandra, the woman he blames for the death around him.

Nikias finds true love with Chandra in his arms, but is desperate to stop her from seeking revenge on a mission he knows is a one-way trip.

Ortello knows for them to recapture the love they once felt for each other, he must be willing to let her go. But overcoming his obsession to make Chandra his and his alone isn’t easy.

Will Chandra go through with the vengeance in her heart or give it up for love? Who is the powerful woman in her haunting visions and will those revealing apparitions crumble her world with the Nodin clan? Does Chandra find true love in the arms of the Nodin men or does her Phantom Desire forever own her heart?

We all deal with death and the loss of a friend or loved one in our own way. We cry, withdraw into ourselves, throw ourselves into work, lash out in anger, or latch on tight to those who are living in fear of losing someone else.

No matter the coping mechanism we choose, there’s a common denominator which is essential in helping us move on and that’s LOVE.

Before we reach the last page of this story, I must warn you, they’ll be some unorthrodox scenes. Okay, it might not be weird to you but it was for this chick. I’m not into ghost sex. Yeah, you read that right. Chandra was intimate with a ghost aka Ortello. In fact, the book started off with this unusual, out of the box, sexual relations.

Not my cup of tea but her love scenes with Nikias and Andonis (alone and together) were right up my kinky alley.

Nikias’ first sexual encounter was with Chandra and he caught on fast to the act of fuckery. Gotta love a man who can take direction. 😉 And Adonis, I have four words for you…

“drawer of sexual treasures”

If you are into kink and toys, then you’ll love what he pulled out for their pleasure.

Even though they are several chapters of bedroom action, Chandra does see some brief action on the field. The short time away leads to a few major bombshells. Yup, humungous cliffhanger but I won’t be speaking on that. If you want to know, then you must buy the book. A purchase I’m sure you WON’T REGRET making.

Chasing Faete & Deciding Her Faete: Beyond the Veil, Book 1 & 2 by Sarah Marsh, Elena Kincaid, and Maia Dylan (Book Review)

 Paranormal Romance – (MMF)

Erica’s been on the run from her parents’ murderer for years, but her luck has finally run out. She finds herself caught by the man who tortured her for years, but she’s prepared to fight him rather than go back to the Fae King. She almost thinks she’s hallucinating when two wolf shifters appear out of nowhere to save her—but that could be the blood loss talking.

Leo and Ben are thrilled to stumble onto the scent of their mate as they were on a routine patrol. They follow their noses and barely find her in time, wounded and battling with a group of armed Fae. Life is about to get a whole lot more complicated when it comes to mating their little pixie.

Erica can’t deny the bond she feels with her wolves, but will the need to avenge her family and change the fate of the Fae realm cost her the loves she’s waited so long to find?

Amazon has this book listed as erotic and the site couldn’t get it any truer. These three (two wolf shifters and a Fae woman) started having sex within 24 hours of meeting each other.

~~ Need help relaxing? Answer: sex. Yup, the BIG O is better than a Valium.
~~ Awake and feeling hungry? Of course, sex should be on the menu. Right?
~~ Feeling blue? Let me cheer you up with my schlong.
~~ Victory sex. Not a question. 100% statement!

Now with all the nakedness happening, I would change one thing within the scenes. In chapter 7, I would’ve changed this phrasing, “pussy leaked”. For me, that was a 100% not attractive usage of words. Cockheads should “leak”, not vaginas.

As for the plot, there is a battle of epic proportions. Wolves, bears, cougars and some pissed off Faes.
Speaking of Faes, I’d love to have Erica’s power of healing. As a parent, that ability could come in real handy.

Oh and speaking of cougar-shifters, I have one word to describe Braxas —–> Meeeeoooowwww!

 Paranormal Romance – (MMF)

April always knew that she was a little different. She spent most of her life trying to forget that fact, but when her instincts tell her to pack up everything and move to an entirely different country, she can’t help but listen … and then a handsome stranger comes to her rescue one night. The force of her connection with Jason and then later, his brother Donovan, pierces her soul. When she and Jason are abducted by a crazed maniac, claiming that she isn’t human, she doesn’t know what to believe in anymore.

Jason and Donovan had taken a huge risk when they left their pack in the hopes of finding their mate. April is everything the brothers had ever dreamt about, but she’s even more special than they know. The battle between their enemies on the other side of The Veil comes crashing into their lives at the worst possible time, just when Jason and Donovan now have something precious to lose.

Will April be able to accept the truth of her real heritage and embrace it in time to find her happy ending?

There are two things I love when reading any book.
1.) Strong characters
2) Plot twists / surprises

Sarah Marsh, Elena Kincaid, and Maia Dylan delivered on both. I won’t go into detail because I want you to be surprised by the many WTF unveils. However I will say the end of chapter twelve (12) was remarkably shocking and I loved Jason’s reaction to what occurred. Trust me, his reaction was absolutely justified.

I also thought the usage of April’s glowing palms during sex was both arousing and, during one point, comical. This will all makes sense once you read the sex scenes. They left quite an impression on the men in more ways than one. 😉

In regards to the plot of the missing women and the Fey, this will all come to head in a battle where three women, (Erica, April, and Corinne) demonstrate their skill-set and why anyone should think twice about going up against them. During this section, another bomb is dropped and we meet Ishaya. I already heart him. <3

For those who recall Braxas, he’s back and delivering ANOTHER game changer. (See epilogue)

Folks, I for one hope these authors deliver us part three of Beyond The Veil sooner rather than later because Sarah Marsh, Elena Kincaid, and Maia Dylan left us with one helluva cliffhanger!

Sarah Marsh was born in British Columbia where she still lives, she has only recently began her writing career finding it the perfect outlet for taking the edge off a nine to five office job. She’s been a science fiction and romance junkie for years and when her imagination started to take the characters she’d read about even further in their adventures she decided to try writing something of her own.

Sarah’s also a former pastry chef and spends a lot of time cooking and baking for friends and family as well as painting and knitting. Her biggest weaknesses are animals of any kind…she even loves the ones that wake you up at four in the morning because they can almost see the bottom of their food dish.

When it comes to life in general she’s a big believer that laughter is the best medicine and that there’s no such thing as too much love, which is why she’s such a sucker for a happy ending.

Maia Dylan lives, loves and works in beautiful New Zealand.  She married her best friend and they have two adorable, but stubborn children who obviously take after their father.

Maia’s career has featured a lot of travel, and she has filled her time at airports and in the air with books, books and more books.  Her love of erotic paranormal romance has seen her amass a huge library.  She has been an avid reader and lover of ménage romances since she read her first book in this genre about three years ago.

Outside of writing, Maia loves to eat, so she loves to cook!  Her herb garden is legendary, but she still has issues getting tomatoes to grow.  She’s been a performer for years, and has even sung on international stages, she would love to own a classic Ford Mustang one day and of course have the opportunity to race it on a race track without fear of a speeding ticket.

Although ultimately her dream is to be able to write full time on a sandy beach with a Mai Tai at hand, she is quite happy to fit her writing in when she can.  As long as someone reads her books, gets a laugh and maybe come to love her characters and much as she does, then she feels that she is living her dreams no matter what!

Nothing Is Lost In Loving by Brenda Moguez (Book Review)

When Stella Delray unexpectedly loses her job a week before Christmas, which is also the anniversary of her husband’s death, she is forced to stop talking to his ashes, come to terms with her loss, and get her life back on track for her young son’s sake as well as her own. She never expected that posting an ad on Craigslist would send her into the arms of not one but two men, one of whom is her former boss. Now she’s working as an admin for a retired Broadway star, bookkeeping for an erotic video production company, and writing love letters for the mysterious “Oaklander.” Adding to the craziness of her new life, her monster-in-law resurfaces and the father-in-law she never met shows up on her doorstep. With the guidance of her best friend, Bono, Stella will learn to redefine the rules she’s always lived by.

Life is a tricky bitch. There are ups, downs, and sometimes it throws us a helluva curveball where you don’t know right from left or up from down.

Stella was a recipient of such a curveball. She lost a husband to cancer, her job…..herself.

On the anniversary of her husband’s death, she decided it was time to live again. You could say the butterfly was finally emerging out of her cocoon. The emergence brought about a whole new set of woes and revelations.

Broken bridges started to rebuild, new relationships started to form and she realized, no matter what life threw at her, she would survive.

All it took for her to discover herself was stepping out of her comfort zone.

She met some very interesting people along the way: Gus (ruggedly handsome man who brought passion back into her life), Joel (the nutty poet), Lucille Gantry (who is nutty in a eccentric sort of way), Buck (owner of a porn studio, a real charmer who resembles Magnum PI), and Outlander65 (a man who opened her eyes the most about living again).

Bono was correct in her summation about Stella’s life. It had turned into a soap opera. Heck it even featured a flirtatious doctor; because all good soap operas have at least one.

My only complaint would be about Jack. I wish Brenda would’ve kept things in the friend zone. The last thing he needed to do was pursue Stella while going through a separation. Especially since Stella was ‘getting back on the horse’ after being out in the pasture for twelve years. Cowboy reference seemed fitting since Bobby, her deceased husband, is in “Cowboy Heaven” (Santi’s words).

Speaking of Santiago, her 8 year-old son, he brought light, joy and tears to those around him. I was moved by the song he sang to his father; the day they released his ashes. The chapter he asked if Father Christmas brought daddy presents in “Cowboy Heaven” was also a very emotional moment for me. I’ve lost two parents, one about his age, so I can empathize with his emotions at such a tender age.

What a sweet, loving young man.

I’d like to end this review with one final thought.

As I stated in my initial sentence, you never know what each day with bring. You’ll have bad days, good ones, and somewhere in-between. Brenda has portrayed this quite well. She’s also showed us, the readers, how strong we all can be. Life moves on and we must move on with it. Embrace the bad, cherish the good, and be thankful for those quiet moments because you never know when things will go haywire again.

Brenda Moguez writes the kind of stories she loves to read–women’s fiction, starring quirky, passionate women who are challenged by the fickleness and complexities of life.

She’s particularly drawn to exploring the effects of love on the heart of a woman. She has aspirations for a fully staffed villa in Barcelona and funding aplenty for a room of her own. When she’s not working on a story, she writes love letters to the universe, dead poets, and Mae West. You can find her at http://www.brendamoguez.com where she explores passionate pursuits in all its forms.
