Spreading Some Holiday Cheer!! (CONTEST)

With a world full of anger, heartache and loss of faith in ‘good will towards man’, I ponder each day wondering how I can make a small difference in someone’s life.

My family believes in Paying It Forward and, as a bookworm, I can’t think of a better way to improve a fellow book lover’s day than through books. 🙂

So ladies and gents, I am taking three holiday stories by Debbie Macomber off my shelf and offering them to three lucky winners.

To enter for your chance to win: share your favorite christmas memory, a gift given or received, a tradition, food/recipe you make, favorite movie/book and so on.

I’ll be accepting entries until 12-13, midnight (central time).

On the 14th, I will announce the winners on a comment and attempt to message you all. So, please follow the comment thread and/or make sure your account accepts messages.

We wouldn’t want a winner to miss their chance of receiving one fabulous prize!!

I look forward to reading all your entries and good luck!!

(Disclaimer: contest only available to those in the continental United States)

My first leather coat because it was not a hand me down. The jacket was ugly but it was mine and it made my mom happy to see me wear it.

    • I think we all have something from our youth we wore to appease our parents. Mine was dresses. I wasn't a fan of them then or now.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your moment with us. Good luck and Happy Holidays.

I love baking cookies for Santa. I got to eat all the sprinkles I wanted to and I ate a lot.

  3. My Father used to be a volunteer firefighter and at Christmas the fire house would always throw a kids Christmas party , since he passed , the fire chief would always take me to my dad's truck that he drove , a way for meto connect , with him !
Love the Christmas hallmark movies , I can watch them over and over .

Kid favorite and easy too- Make rice crispy treats, use cookie cutters to cut out shapes, decorate with icing and candies. Enjoy. Allison

    • My youngster would definitely go nuts for this treat. She loves spreading icing on anything. She has quite the sweet tooth.

Thank you for the idea. Merry Christmas and good luck!!

    Chocolate-Dipped Marshmallows

1 cup semi-sweet or white chocolate chips
    2 teaspoons oil
    1 (10-ounce) package marshmallows
Garnish: mini candy-coated chocolates, candy sprinkles

Combine chocolate chips and oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on medium setting for one to 1-1/2 minutes until chocolate is softened; stir until smooth. With a candy dipping tool or toothpick, dip marshmallows into chocolate to cover completely. Sprinkle with desired garnish; set on wax paper until firm.

  6. My brother came in for Christmas. He is in the Air Force. We don't really get to see him but maybe every 5 years.
He spends more time over seas than in the states.

He came home with my new sister in law before he went to Turkey. He was even able to see my daughter for the first time.

Best day ever. He has been in Korea, Turkey, Afghanistan, Hawaii (best ever I went a visited) New Mexico, Texas, Virginia, Ohio, Washington and now back in Koreo.
Love getting Xmas cards from different countries and states.

Sorry I have just went on and on

    Have a Merry Christmas

  7. I love to bake and every year I spend days baking and then my husband and dress up as Mr and Mrs Santa Claus and we take trays of cookies to some of his customers and some of mine. Last year we went to the nursing home to see my aunt dressed up. It's always fun to see the adults get excited to see Santa. You wouldn't believe how many kids want nothing to do with us. .

  8. I give wall calendars for the coming year. Scantily clad men for my daughter, scantily clad women for my son, a nature scenes one for home use and a fantasy one for my office. Silly I know. And yes my son and daughter are adults. lol

My favorite ornaments are my kids' handprints. Every year I get teary-eyed when I see how much they've grown. Lisa

    Cookie pretzel recipe

    INGREDIENTS
    Dough
    1 stick unsalted butter
    1 c. confectioners’ sugar
    ¼ tsp. salt
1 large egg plus 1 yolk
    2 tsp. Lemon Extract
    ½ tsp. vanilla extract
    2¼ c. all-purpose flour

    Decoration
1 egg mixed with 2 tsp lemon juice or water
Coarse white and red decorating sugar

    DIRECTIONS
In large bowl, with electric mixer on medium speed, beat butter, sugar and salt until creamy. Beat in egg, yolk and extracts until smooth. With mixer on low speed, beat in flour until blended. Chill dough in refrigerator 30 minutes.
Heat oven to 350°F. Line baking sheet(s) with parchment or nonstick reusable liners. Shape level Tbsps dough into balls. On a smooth surface with floured fingers, roll each ball, 1 at a time, into a 12-in. rope; lift rope to a prepared baking sheet and shape into a pretzel. Make more pretzels, spacing them 2 in. apart on baking sheet. Lightly brush with egg mixture; sprinkle with sugar.
Bake one sheet at a time, 14 minutes or until cookies are lightly golden brown at the edges. Let cool on sheet on wire rack 2 minutes; remove to rack to cool completely. Bake remaining cookies.
