Circle of Death by Keri Arthur (Book Review)

In one, vicious night, Kirby Brown’s world is torn apart. Her best friend is dead, killed by the madman who is now after her. And she has no idea why.

Doyle Fitzgerald has been sent to Melbourne, Australia, to hunt down a killer. What he doesn’t expect to find is a circle of witches capable of controlling the elements-and a sorceress determined to take that power for herself. And he certainly isn’t expecting to play bodyguard to a woman who is more than she seems.

When the police prove incapable of protecting her from the monsters that chase her, Kirby has no choice but to place her safety in Doyle’s hand. And while she finds herself inexplicably drawn to him, she fears to trust-because of the magic that lies in his soul.

It quickly becomes evident that the reason behind the killings lies in her past. But it is a past she has no wish to remember.

Because Doyle isn’t the only one with magic in his soul. Only hers was capable of destroying a world.

Witches, vamp, shifter…. Oh yeah, three of my favorite things. 🙂

I’m actually loved the zombies in the story. Yeah, “Walking Dead” has made me a fan of the undead.

The only difference between the tv show biters and Keri’s….. Keri’s zombies fight back.

If this zombie apocalypse ever happens, I vote for the “Walking Dead” type to roam the world. No way do I want to meet up with a dead guy who throws a punch first…. bites later. That’s craziness. 😀

Be sure and check out “Circle of Desire”….. the final novel in the Damask Circle series!

I’ll be ordering mine very soon!

Heart of Darkness by Lauren Dane (Book Review)

Website
Amazon (Paperback Version)
Meriel Owen, next in line to control the largest organization of witches in the country, is asked to investigate the owner of a notorious club reportedly siphoning magic from the font of the Clan. It’s a direct violation of the Clan Code of Conduct, but one look at Dominic Bright and Meriel’s willing to make a deal. One taste of the sexually feral outlaw witch, and she’s eager to go further: he’s her bond mate, a legal conduit into the world of Clan witches and their magic.
Playing by the rules isn’t Dominic’s style, but bonding with Meriel—night after explosive night—is. However, Meriel has unwittingly invited someone else into her world: Dominic’s mother, a dangerous and poisonously influential magic addict whose lust for death and power corrupts all she touches. Now her shadow is closing in on Meriel, her Clan, and the man Meriel loves, and it’s casting them all into the inescapable heart of darkness.

After hearing about Lauren’s tale-weaving skills for some time now, I decided to give the author’s creations a look. I selected the Bound By Magick series because I’m a fan of paranormal romance novels. This story certainly didn’t lack in the romance department. Meriel and Dominic couldn’t keep their hands off one another. But besides their physical attraction, they connected mentally and magically, too, which made them a perfect match.

My only complaint about the story – at times, I felt like certain sections were rushed. For example, the showdown with Dom’s mom. I expected a surprise or two thrown at us, but it never happened. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t written poorly at all. I was simply waiting for the “Holy Hell” moment.

With that said, I will check out the rest of the series.
