Christmas at Twilight by Lori Wilde (Book Review)

It’s Christmas in Twilight, Texas. The Cookie Club is baking, the town is decorated, and Delta Force Operator “Hutch” Hutchinson has finally, reluctantly, returned home . . .

. . . only to get pepper sprayed by the delicious- looking stranger who’s taken over his house. She says her name is Jane, and she immediately sets down ground rules. Top priority: no touching. For Hutch that isn’t easy—he was wounded in action, but one part is still working very well.

Then Hutch learns the truth. Jane harbors a frightening secret—she’s really Meredith Sommers, on the run from a dangerous ex-husband and desperately in need of the safety Hutch can provide. In that moment, he vows he’d do anything in his power to protect her. And as Christmas approaches, they discover that their love can conquer the past and overcome any obstacle—but what price will they pay?

Review

If you are looking for a story full of miracles, then this is the story for you. Hutch came back into town a broken man, both physically and mentally, but with the love of a good woman he overcame the trauma.

Jane aka Meredith, also had some demons to vanquish. Her demon came back into her life and in a major way. She literally had the fight of a lifetime on her hands and through it all was Hutch.

As for Hutch’s sister who disappeared shortly after the start of the book. I won’t tell you what happened to her but I will say she makes an impact upon her return.

And of course, as you can assume with most Christmas tales, there was a happy ending for Hutch and Meredith.

Cowboy Boots for Christmas by Carolyn Brown (Book Review)

51nvgzpkwyl-_sx302_bo1204203200_

‘Tis the season for…
Feasting
Frolicking
And…Feuding?

All he wants for Christmas is peace and quiet…
After two tours in Afghanistan, retired Army sniper Finn O’Donnell believes his new ranch outside the sleepy little town of Burnt Boot, Texas, is the perfect place for an undisturbed holiday season. But before he can settle in, an old friend shows up looking for protection and a place where nobody knows her name.

But that’s going to take a miracle…
Callie Brewster must relocate to protect her young nephew, Martin, and the only person she trusts is her old Army friend, Finn. Burnt Boot seems like the perfect place to be anonymous, but it turns out a small town with big drama is no place to hide…

When Callie arrived on Finn’s doorstep with her nephew/adopted son, Martin, I assumed the story would revolve around their love being born while they awaited the trial in which Martin had to testify in as being the eye witness to a murder.

However, Carolyn didn’t really address the incident until the very end and only then did she spend a couple lines on it. She did give Martin a couple nightmares but those scenes lasted (again) a few lines.

Basically, the plot of the story wasn’t about what united Callie and Finn. The story was about two people who had feelings for each other while in the military, didn’t disclose them, but after reuniting, they fell into a natural rhythm of partnership in life and in love.

During their journey to HEA they dealt with feuding neighboring families, unexpected houseguests and their own lingering doubts if they were meant to be.

Of course, as you can imagine, they were meant to be and together they created a big happy family.

Read the story and discover exactly how big their family became in such a short span of time.

~~Review~~

If you are seeking touchy-feely Christmas stories to warm your heart, then you are in luck.

Within these three stories you’ll read about military men who either renewed a past relationship or created a new one.

They are too sweet, borderline cute. In other words, my erotic fans, the love scenes are a far cry from rated X…maybe not even rated-R.

What to Do with a Bad Boy by Marie Harte (Book Review)

Series: McCauley Brothers
Book 4 in series
Genre: Contemporary
Format: eBook, Print

WHAT IS WITH MIKE McCAULEY?

Every time Delilah Webster runs into Mike McCauley, he practically bites her head off. The rough-and-tumble contractor clearly has baggage. Del has her own emotional scars and knows she’s better off keeping her distance, but Mike’s temptation in jeans and a T-shirt and she’s always been good with her hands…

There’s something about the strong-willed mechanic that sets Mike’s motor running–and scares the hell out of him. Mike has loved and lost and will never hurt like that again, even if that means walking away from a woman who makes him feel alive for the first time in years.

When a simple kiss turns hot and heavy, Mike discovers he can’t stay away, no matter how certain he is they’re destined to crash and burn…

Oh how I love the little rascal Colin, Mike’s son. He reminds me so much of my daughter it’s freaking scary. They are both sneaky, a mouth too big for their ages, and ears that hear every damn word. But goodness, they are so damn cute and a joy to be around.

Now let me speak about Mike and Del. They both came into the relationship with major baggage, like most people. He was still grieving over his deceased wife who died giving birth to Colin. And Del, she never felt worthy of love thanks to her mother and I use the term “mother” loosely.

However, Mike realized he could allow himself to love again. That in doing so, he wasn’t tarnishing what him and his wife had.

Del, with all her tattoos/piercings/rough exterior attitude, learned it’s okay to let someone in besides her family. She admitted to herself she wanted more in life besides working in the shop and finally got it.

Best scenes in the book: Del putting Grace in her place. Colin being all spy-like with J.T. Basically any scene involving J.T. Speaking of the tattoo artist, I want his book!!!

Charade by Lori Foster (Book Review)

Outrageous:
Judd Sanders couldn’t believe it when the beautiful, wide-eyed woman he rescued from some drunk hoodlums started poking her gorgeous little nose into his business. She was obviously a menace to herself – not to mention to his libido. Worse, she’d blow his cover. For little didEmily Cooper know that Judd was really a cop – whose cover left him a little too “uncovered” for his liking.

Impetuous:

Grade school teacher Carlie McDaniels trades in her frumpiness for the look of an exotic harem girl, at least for one costume party. So long, spinsterhood—and hello tall, dark and handsome Tyler Ramsey….

Even after the best night of their lives, Tyler hasn’t guessed the identity of his harem hottie…and Carlie plans on keeping him in the dark. After all, a gorgeous guy like Tyler would never fall for his smart-talking best friend. And Carlie’s not sure she wants to know what would happen if he ever unveiled the naked truth!

Again Lori has delivered two sexy, sweet stories to her readers.

In “Impetuous” you’ll discover a woman who hides behind frumpy clothes, a distant personality because she doesn’t want to get rejected or made feel inadequate – again. With Tyler by her side, she realizes it’s okay to let her guard down and be carefree – be her true self. And Tyler discovers there is more to a woman than outward appearances. Together, they both become greater people. Made for each other in every way.

In “Outrageous”, two unlikely people find their path’s crossing while working towards a same goal – taking down an arm’s dealer. Love wasn’t in the plans for them but that’s precisely what developed.

With these two stories, you’ll see how opposites really do attract – explosively hot and all consuming passion. Sounds freaking great, right? I thought so too. 🙂
