Theirs to Cherish by Shayla Black (Book Review)

The perfect place for a woman on the run to disappear…

Accused of a horrific murder she didn’t commit, former heiress Callie Ward has been a fugitive since she was sixteen—until she found the perfect hideout, Club Dominion. The only problem is she’s fallen for the club’s Master, Mitchell Thorpe, who keeps her at arm’s length. Little does she know that his reasons for not getting involved have everything to do with his wounded heart…and his consuming desire for her.

To live out her wildest fantasies…

Enter Sean Kirkpatrick, a Dom who’s recently come to Dominion and taken a pointed interest in Callie. Hoping to make Thorpe jealous, she submits to Sean one shuddering sigh at a time. It isn’t long before she realizes she’s falling for him too. But the tender lover who’s slowly seducing her body and earning her trust isn’t who he claims…

And to fall in love.

When emotions collide and truths are exposed, Sean is willing to risk all to keep Callie from slipping through his fingers. But he’s not the only man looking to stake a claim. Now Callie is torn between Sean and Thorpe, and though she’s unsure whom she can trust, she’ll have to surrender her body and soul to both—if she wants to elude a killer…

Was this book sexy as hell? Yes.

Did the love scenes make my heart race, certain parts of my anatomy ache? HELL YES!

And folks, I am not ashamed to admit the scenes between Sean, Callie, and Thorpe are panty wetters.

The scenes were so hot, I almost forgot there was a plot happening in the background.

If you read nothing else from her – READ THIS!

Made for You & Held by You by Cheyenne McCray (2 Book Reviews)

Detective Kelley Petrova’s life hasn’t been easy. The one constant in her adult life has been her career and the ability to make a difference in the lives of abused women and children. Having a capable and dedicated partner like Reese McBride, who also doesn’t happen to be one bit hard on the eyes, only makes her job easier and more worthwhile.

That is, until a string of cases go awry leading to injuries for both Kelley and Reese. When a domestic dispute goes bad and Kelley is shot while a woman is murdered, Kelley’s own personal history forces her to push ahead to find the woman’s killer and the kidnapper of the woman’s daughter. Difficult tasks even when not on a forced leave due to her injuries.

Detective Reese McBride knows his partner of two years is tough, smart, determined and for the first time ever is really noticing just how beautiful she is. Perhaps it’s the vulnerability of her injuries, but he’s having trouble denying his attraction. And forget about keeping her on medical leave, she always seems to be one step ahead of him on the case.
As much as he wants to, Reese can’t keep his partner down and soon they’re chasing after more than just a man and the girl he’s kidnapped. Drugs and a human trafficking ring are exposed and soon Kelley and Reese are running out of time.
The love that has developed between Kelley and Reese grows stronger with each day before they are brutally torn apart. Reese must not only find and rescue the little girl, he’s got to save Kelley before it’s too late.

Quick Thoughts

From beginning to end, this story was action-packed: drug smugglers, kidnappings, car wreck, stand-offs, and not to mention the LOVE scenes.

All the page turning excitement had me blasting through the book in a couple hours.

And the ending chapters, yeah, the mushy stuff arose but I liked it. It was a prefect ending to one HELLER good book!

Much like Cinderella, Hollie Simmons was waiting for her Prince Charming but wondering if her life was meant to be anything but a fairy tale. A kindergarten teacher, Hollie was raised to be a lady by her southern mother who passed away when Hollie was young. After a speedy remarriage by her father and more losses than she can count, Hollie is left alone in the world with only three cold, abusive stepbrothers who, along with their lowlife friend Freddy, are constantly into trouble of the worst kind and with Hollie as an easy mark.
When John McBride, a police lieutenant, saves Hollie from a nasty fall, she thinks perhaps her prince has finally come in the guise of a man she’s always wanted to get to know but was too shy.
John has seen too many cop marriages fail. He’s married to his job and doesn’t have room or the desire to be tied down. Until Hollie. As a cop he’s learned to trust his gut instinct. Perhaps he should have trusted it when told him to approach her long ago. Is he ready for the forever he sees in her eyes?
When Hollie is framed for a murder she did not commit and the key to proving her innocence seems impossible to find, will John be able to locate the shady character who committed the crime before Hollie is put behind bars? Is their love strong enough to withstand such a hardship to find their happy ending?

Quick Thoughts!

Way to go Hollie on being a tough ass chick who doesn’t go down lightly. John might’ve came to her rescue but Hollie proved she could handle her own when push comes to shove.

Yeah, we women totally rock!!

Only negative comment: It seems lately in the books I’ve been reading, the ladies (in their twenties) are virgins. NOT THAT THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT BUT, I hope this isn’t the newest reading trend. I kind of prefer women who have more experience and show the men some moves in the sheets – not vice versa. Just sayin’ 🙂

Ours to Love by Shayla Black (Book Review)

Between two brothers…

Xander Santiago spent years living it up as a billionaire playboy. Never given a chance to lead his family business in the boardroom, he became a master in the bedroom instead. His older brother, Javier, inherited the company and worked tirelessly to make it an empire. But while cutthroat corporate espionage took its toll on Javier, nothing was as devastating as the seemingly senseless murder of his wife. It propelled him into a year of punishing rage and guilt…until Xander came to his rescue.

Comes an irresistible woman…

Eager to rejuvenate Javier’s life, Xander shanghais him to Louisiana, where they meet beautiful London McLane. After a decade of tragedy and struggle, London is determined to make a fresh start—and these sexy billionaire brothers are more than willing to help. In every way. London is stunned to find herself open to every heated suggestion…and desperately hoping that her love will heal them.

And inescapable danger.

But a killer is watching, on a single-minded mission to destroy everything the Santiago brothers hold dear, especially London. As fear and desire collide, every passionate beat of her heart could be her last.

When I purchased this story, I knew this was going to be about two brothers falling in love with the same woman and having sex with her. However, since I am a fan of Shayla’s and I wanted to read the continuation of the series, I cracked opened the book anyways.

With that said, I can’t understand how a brother can get aroused watching his sibling have sex with someone. For me to enjoy the scenes, I actually pretended they were only friends and not brothers.

What I did like about this story was the tenderness, the patience, and understanding they shown London when she unveiled her back to them. Their reaction was absolutely perfect!

One final note: If you were waiting for the conclusion of “Who killed Javier’s wife and why”, the wait is finally over. 🙂

Playing With You by Cheyenne McCray (Book Review)

Ricki Sparks knows she can make a mean red velvet cake but can’t believe she’s let herself be talked into a blind date. When she opens the door to see the man she’s been secretly sweet on since the first day he walked into her bakery, she fears her heart will be demolished. At least she knows she’s in for a wild ride.

With a past like his, private investigator Garrett McBride doesn’t feel he’s worthy of a good woman’s love. Especially not Ricki, the sweet, beautiful baker. But its not just her delectable baked goods that keep him coming back and it isn’t long before he admits to himself that he wants her for his own. He never suspects that the greatest danger to her may come not from himself, but from the deceitful woman Ricki has befriended.

Love may not be the only thing Ricki falls into along the way as she finds herself in a world of deceit and betrayal that may cost her life. While Ricki is fighting for her life, Garrett must find her, before it’s too late.

~~ Quick thoughts~~

What I loved about “PWY” was the plot. So many stories center around a guy obsessed over a woman. In this story, a mentally unstable woman (Deena) fixated on Ricki and wanted her all to herself. Believe me, Deena was a total nutcase!

Also, many shining stars in a story are the humans. In this case, I have to say Xena, Ricki’s companion, out shined them all in the end.

(Side note)
When I read the back cover to this story, I had to laugh. Why? Well, I just sent in my own story featuring a baker to my editor and now I was going to start reading about a baker from one of my favorite authors. Ironic huh?
Thankfully, Ricki didn’t own/operate a naughty baker and my story didn’t feature a P.I. Phew, what a relief. 🙂

Nautier and Wilder by Lora Leigh and Jaci Burton (Book Review)

#1 New York Times bestselling author Lora Leigh returns to the relentlessly scorching backdrop of her Nauti Boys series with an all-new novella of a man—bad to the bone—and the one woman who knew he was trouble. That’s why she couldn’t let him go.

New York Times bestselling author Jaci Burton once again blisters the asphalt with an all-new novella in her Wild Riders series. A hot biker craves a life of passion and danger—and finds it with the woman he’s sworn to protect.

Review of Lora Leigh’s Nauti Siren

When I sit down to read a LL story, I know I can expect plenty of action in and out of the sheets. Nauti Siren had plenty of both. The epilogue had me zooming over to her website for insight when Lyrica’s story was slated for release because I must know who entered her room.

Review of Jaci Burton’s Riding to Sunset

Before reading this short story, I wasn’t familiar with The Wild Riders Series. However after I finished it, I went straight to Amazon and put the series on my TBR list. Yes, I was that impressed with her creation. It had heat and suspense. A very intriguing read!
