In the second grade, Jessie began a story about a duck and a lost ring. Two harrowing pages of wide ruled notebook paper later, the ring was found. And Jessie has been writing ever since.

Armed with the firm belief that women in the Regency era could be truly awesome heroines, Jessie began telling their stories in her Spy Series, a thrilling ride in historical espionage that showcases human faults and triumphs and most importantly, love.

Jessie makes her home in the great state of New Hampshire where she lives with her husband and two very opinionated Basset Hounds.

(Franconia Notch Trilogy Book 1)

Shannon Wynter has many things on her mind. Romance is not one of them.

Abandoned by her mother at eleven and strapped with an agoraphobic father, Shannon’s focus doesn’t travel much farther than her career as a journalist despite the sometimes maniacal efforts of her two best friends from her days at an all-girls boarding school.

But when an assignment puts her in the path of hypnotically enticing Ian Darke, not even her dedication to her career and her father can hold her steady. Pulled ever deeper into a relationship with a man she swears she doesn’t even like, Shannon uncovers Ian’s weaknesses and her father’s secrets.

But the most important thing she discovers is what she already knows.

I loved Ian’s sense of humor. When Clarke, Shannon’s dad, thought the neighbors were swingers he went over to investigate. Jessie didn’t share the conversation between Ian and the “swingers”, but he did learn Clarke was correct. Oh to be a fly on the wall…… Too bad Jessie didn’t include it in the story. I think it would’ve been one helluva scene.

BTW: Ian kept his good natured antics going throughout the story. Twister anyone? *grinning*

Of course, Jessie let us see the softer side of him, too. The part of him where he considered himself broken because he saw himself as a failure.

Insecurities are a bitch.

But, Jessie showed us once again that the love of a good person can make you realize where you see weakness, they see strength.

As much as I loved Ian, I must do a shout out to Dot, his mother. Man, I wouldn’t cross that woman for all the money in the world. It’s true, “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.”

Dot, you are the shining star of this story!
