Drew Evans makes multimillion-dollar business deals and seduces New York’s most beautiful women with just a smile. So why has he been shuttered in his apartment for seven days, miserable and depressed? He’ll tell you he has the flu, but we all know that’s not really true.
When Katherine Brooks is hired as the new associate at Drew’s father’s investment banking firm, every aspect of the dashing playboy’s life is thrown into a tailspin. The professional competition she brings is unnerving, his attraction to her is distracting, his failure to entice her into his bed is exasperating.
How can one woman turn a smooth-talking player into a broken, desperate man? By making the one thing he never wanted in life the only thing he can’t live without.

Review

While I was out book shopping, I stumbled across this author. I never heard of her before and the back cover (book summary) intrigued me. I thought, “What the heck. Let’s give a new author a try.”

I have mixed feelings on this first installment in the “Drew Evans” series.

First, I wasn’t a fan of the narrating writing style. Let me explain what I mean by this. Imagine you are sitting on the couch, watching television and you say aloud…..”Hey I’m sitting here watching Criminal Minds.” Or “I’m taking out the trash.”

The author did this often to some degree. Maybe it won’t bother you but it annoyed me. Sorry but true.

Positive aspects of the story – I loved Drew’s shenanigans revolving around winning Kate back. The three piece band that followed her EVERYWHERE was funny as heck. Asking a nun to remind Kate the importance of forgiveness….nice touch. His final act of showing his sincerity about his commitment to her….romantic.

I’m still undecided whether or not I will purchase the rest of the series. If I do, I’ll make sure and write a review letting you know my thoughts on them as well.

Heart rating system – 1 (lowest) and 5 (highest)
Score: ❤❤
