~~ Excerpt~~

“You’re studying to be a priest?”
He made himself meet her eyes. “I am a priest.”
She let go of his hand and stepped back.
Her smiled was tight. “I’m glad you found your
path.”
Quiet.
He couldn’t quite read her expression. The distance
between them felt like a gorge chiseled into the earth.
“Are you all right, Maylynn?” he asked.
“I’m really happy for you.” Then she added, “Father
Aiden.”
For some reason, her words stabbed him in the gut.
He usually liked when people used his title—it seemed to imply a certain amount
of trust.
“I’m sorry, Maylynn.” He wasn’t entirely sure why
he was apologizing. He just didn’t like to see her uncomfortable.
“I’m happy for you,” she repeated.
Then he realized what the problem was. He hadn’t
anticipated this.
He moved closer. “I’m so sorry.”
Her forced smile finally dropped. “Why didn’t you
tell me sooner?”
“It didn’t occur to me…”
“That I might be attracted to you?”
“Yes.”
“Why aren’t you wearing your collar?” Anger
prickled the edge of her voice.
“My mother’s last wish was that I find my father.
I’ve been following her notes. She was convinced he was somewhere in this
area.”
“Wait… Your mother’s name was Adalina?”
He nodded. With the number of times the shelter was
mentioned in the notes, he figured his mother and Maylynn had met.
A pause.
Anger flashed in her eyes. “You still should’ve
told me.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Why’d you play with me like that?”
“I swear that wasn’t my intent.”
“You knew damn well what was going on. Was it a
game—see if you still had it? If you could still get the chicks?”
Under the anger in her eyes, he saw the hurt. He
swore he could feel it exactly, as if it was his own.
He shifted even closer, just in front of her. “I’m
sorry,” he said again. His voice lowered, quieted. “I didn’t see what you were
feeling because I was fighting so hard myself. I still am.”
“Fighting what?”
“What I felt the first time I saw you, what I’m
still feeling.”
She waited, glaring at him.
“I’m attracted to you,” he said. “Intensely.”

Don’t want to read a full-length novel or just looking for a sweet, quick read while on your lunch break, then consider buying “Blame It On the Cherry”.

For those who like a lot of lovin, you might want to pass. This book is rated PG-13. In other words, there was some under the bra action but that bout sums it up.

However if you don’t need or won’t miss the “action”, then pick this up. It’s only .99¢
One last thing, I love the costume choice for Julie. Clark Kent….. PERFECTO!!

Spanish Lessons by Jessica Peterson (Book Review)

Vivian Bingley has big plans for her semester abroad in Spain…

Along with her BFF Maddie, Vivian hopes to indulge her inner Art History nerd by visiting the best museums in the world. She also wants to tackle more practical concerns—like a less than stellar GPA in her major, Economics—with the help of a Spanish tutor.

But falling for her studly Spanish tutor definitely isn’t one of them.

Madrileño Rafa Montoya is the stuff study abroad dreams are made of: super studly and super smart. He also happens to be super into Vivian. With his wicked dancing skills and his passion for the arts, he tempts her to throw caution to the wind and live out her wildest dreams.

Only problem? Maddie wants Rafa, too, and Vivian promised herself she’d never settle for second best again…not after a hookup-gone-awry last semester left her heartbroken. Is it best for Vivian to protect her heart at all costs? Or is letting Rafa in worth the risk?

Attending school abroad sounds like quite an adventure and it was for Vivian. On her first night in Madrid, she met a sweet, charming, and romantic man who made her less homesick. He brought happiness into her life when she was feeling pretty sad and lost. Lost as in… What the heck am I doing with my life?

It was inevitable they would fall in love. Yes, the timing wasn’t ideal. But cupid doesn’t care about that. When his love arrow strikes, there’s no fighting it. You can try but why. LIVE IN THE NOW.

That’s exactly what Jessica had Vi and Rafa doing and the result was a relationship which didn’t end with one semester. With true love, you find a way to stay together because when you love someone that intensely, you make it happen.

Jessica, thank you for writing a truly romantic love story and for also teaching me a bit of Spanish along the way. I am far from fluent but I can say and recognize more than a handful of words now.

So thanks, teach. You are one heckuva tutor. 🙂

Tempt Fortune by Hebby Roman (Book Review)

Desperate to escape an arranged marriage, Angelina Herrera flees from Cuba to Key West to start a new life and build her own business. But when her past catches up with her, she realizes the only way she can avoid the arranged marriage is to marry another … in name only.

Drawn to the fiercely independent beauty Angelina, Cuban revolutionary, Alejandro Estava marries her. Though outwardly he agrees to the platonic relationship because of his secret past, he cannot deny his powerful desire to possess her completely.

But tempestuous forces more powerful than the hurricane descending on their island home unleashes their mutual passion while threatening their yearning for a lifelong bond.

Angelina/Alejandro and Destiny/Nathan’s relationships once again prove that “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” and thank goodness Hebby touched on the fact that good looks DO NOT make for good bedfellows. Case in point: Both women found themselves at the hands of two scoundrels who’s nefarious intentions almost cost them everything. Yet, in true romance fashion, love prevailed and we saw two HEA’s.

That’s good, right?

I thought so, too.

My only complaint was the journey to the HEA’s. Nathan fell in love after one date/kiss. Probably at first glance. His sudden mad love for Destiny caused him to propose on their first date and a few times later too. Most women would find this behavior too much, too fast. I sure would. Women like to be wooed, courted, asked at on more than one date before they allow a man to put a ring on their finger.

On the flip side, Alejandro and Angelina just couldn’t get their ducks in a row. Now their love story seemed a bit more realistic and relatable.

I swear 80% of this book felt like foreplay. Tease, tease, and (wait for it) yes more teasing. Heck, I think I was about to take myself a cold shower. JK… not really. 🙂

Speaking of Bom Chicka Wah Wah, after Bruce and Angie finally consummated their relationship, I was waiting for the epic fight once Tristan found out. He blew his stack, but the fight was over as quick as it begun. Kind of a let down.

On a positive note, how much do I adore watching Bruce’s parents interact. Those two prove opposites do in fact attract. Seriously, you can’t get more opposite than them. *wink wink*

Oh, one more thing, sexxxxxy cover. I totally approve of it. 😉

With the majestic Rocky Mountains for a backdrop, Tena Stetler is a paranormal romance author with an over-active imagination.  She wrote her first vampire romance as a tween, to the chagrin of her mother and the delight of her friends. Tena finds stories in the strangest places, while camping, kayaking, or hiking in the mountains. Even at the hair salon ie A Demon’s Witch.  So far, she’s only found one dead body (imagined not real) during a camping trip, turned it into an exciting paranormal romantic suspense that’s nearly complete. For many years, Tena worked as a paralegal for a criminal law firm. You won’t believe the tales she can spin from that experience! Colorado is her home; shared with her husband, a brilliant Chow Chow, a spoiled parrot and a forty-year-old box turtle.  She loves the adventure of a road trip. Together with her husband and their companion animals, they have logged thousands of miles in their RV visiting over three-quarters of the United States.  The great northeast and Alaska are still on the bucket list. Any winter evening, you can find her curled up in front of a crackling fire with a good book, a mug of hot chocolate and a big bowl of popcorn.
