Interview with Harper Jewel

Welcome, Harper Jewel!
1. For those who might not be familiar with you, would you be a dear
and tell the readers a little about yourself? How did you get your start in the
writing business?
(HJ) I’m just your
average housewife and mother of one spectacular daughter.  Writing has always been a part of my life
from very early on.  I was always coming
up with stories in my mind or putting on plays/production with my cousins or
friends.  It wasn’t until just recently
when a friend suggested I actually submit something I’d written, that I sat and
put some serious thought to it.  The
result was my first published work with Horny Devil Publishing, Derek & Maks – Book 1 in the Inked Heat
From there it’s been a dream
come true for me.
2. Do you ever suffer from writer’s block? If so, please share how you handle it.
(HJ) If I come up
against wall that I can’t seem to burst through, I save my doc and take a
break.  I either read or do something
with my husband and daughter to sort of clear my mind.  After a few days, I’ve found I’m able to sit
and write once more.
3. Contrary to what some people envision about a romance
writer’s life, it’s not all glitz and glam. Well not for the majority of us.
With that bubble sadly busted, when you’re not writing, how to do you spend
your time?
(HJ) When I’m not
writing, I’m either working—yes, sadly, I am not a stay-at-home mom—cleaning,
cooking, doing laundry, chauffeuring my daughter places, helping my daughter
with a “crisis,” taking care of our three cats, or a myriad of other things.
4. I know many writers, such as Dirk and myself, keep their
pastime/career a secret. Do those close to you know you write? If so, what are
their thoughts?
(HJ) With the release
of Virgin Prey, my second published
work, I did “share” my secret with my extended family.  My husband and my daughter both know that I
write as well as what I write and both have been very supportive.  Some of the older members of my family are a
bit unhappy with my choice of genre, but respect my decision, although they
refuse to tell their own friends about this little “secret.”
5. Will you share with us your all time favorite authors? If
you’re like me, it’s a long list so give us your top ten.
(HJ) Kate Douglas
tops the list for me.  I’ve had the
pleasure to meet her in person and have a few one-of-a-kind items she has
graciously sent me over the few years since we met.  Others on my favorite list would be: Sylvia
Day, Shayla Black, J.R. Ward, Lauren Dane, Elizabeth Amber, Christine Feehan,
Anya Bast, Sherrilyn Kenyon & Crystal Jordan.
6. If you could choose one book to go to the big screen,
yours or otherwise, which book would you choose and whom would you love see
casted in the parts?
(HJ) I’d love to see
one of Kate Douglas’ Wolf Tales brought to the screen, however, with the steamy
sex scenes in any of the Wolf Tales books, I’m not sure what rating they could
give it.  As for who to cast in the
parts, I picture Richard Gere or Pierce Brosnan playing the lead males and Halle
Berry or Evangeline Lilly playing the lead females.
7. Would you care to tell us what you’re working on now?
That is if it’s not top-secret information. If so, just whisper it in my ear. I
swear it’ll go no further.
(HJ) I’ve already completed
the second installment of my Inked Heat
entitled Trent & Trey, and
it has been contracted with HDP.  This
one is the story of two brothers, Trent & Trey, who own/operate a tattoo
parlor as well as a small ranch in a little town in Texas.  When Cassie St. Cloud comes in for a tattoo,
sparks fly between them all, but unbeknownst to the petite woman a part of her
past she thought she was safe from is hot on her heels.  As for writing, I’m currently in the midst of
my follow up to Virgin Prey, tentatively
titled, Untapped Prey.  Aviana Byrde, Andor Malar, and Bertrand Lark
my three main characters from Virgin Prey
are back as they “seek” another couple of their kind.  Evangeline DeMarco and Slate Warton are their
targeted “untapped prey,” and this book will tell their story.
8. Where can we find your stories and is there a particular
reading order?
(HJ) My works are in
e-book format only and can be found at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobi, All
Romance E-books, and iTunes.  I currently
have two series going: the Inked Heat
and A Seeker Story Series.  Both only have one installment each available
at this time.
9. Would you please share how your present and future fans
can contact you?
(HJ) I can be found
at any of the following links:

10. Before we conclude this enlightening interview, do you
have anything else you’d like to share? The stage is all yours.
(HJ) First and
foremost, I’d like to thank you for having me here today.  It’s been a pleasure speaking with you.  I do hope I’ve piqued some of your followers’
interest and welcome any and all comments at any of my above links.  I’d just like to close with a saying if I
may:  Erotic is a state of mind…let it
wander where it may.

I want to again thank Harper Jewel for stopping by and friends/followers, if you have any questions or comments for Harper, by all means, leave her a message below.

Thank you in advance for your visit!
