Interview with Angelica Dawson

Welcome, Angelica Dawson!
1.  For those who might not be familiar with you, would you be a
dear and tell the readers a little about yourself? How did you get your start in
the writing business?
(A) My first erotic
writings were fanfiction. However, I found a lot of the same over and over
there, so I decided to take my own characters, vampires, and make them go where
those other authors seemed to trip up. I made Blue Moon House as boundary
breaking as I could, and thought no one would possibly want to publish it. I
was very wrong.
2.
All writers fear the dreaded “block”. Please tell us how you handle it.
(A) By writing something else for a while. I
have another penname and write YA, adult literary fiction, horror, all sorts of
other things as well as erotica. When one well runs dry, I can usually tap
another until the muse comes around again. Another go to is editing. I
currently have four erotic pieces in one state or another of draft. I can
always open one of those and tinker.
3. Contrary to what some people envision
about a romance writer’s life, it’s not all glitz and glam. Well not for the
majority of us. With that bubble sadly busted, when you’re not writing, how to
do you spend your time?
(A) I’m an environmental consultant three days
a week (and most of the summer). Aside from that I have a six year-old daughter
and husband that appreciate my love and attention when my characters aren’t
clamouring for it.
4. I know many writers, such as Dirk and
myself, keep their pastime/career a secret. Do those close to you know you
write? If so, what are their thoughts?
(A) I haven’t kept it a secret at all. Many
people, however, I only mention this penname to once. It’s obvious right away
if that person is interested in knowing more, or would rather pretend I only
right ‘nice’ fiction. My closest friends and family, however, are nothing but
supportive.
5. Will you share with us your all time
favorite authors? If you’re like me, it’s a long list so give us your top ten.
(A) Phew. I’m used to being told to give one
and that drives me insane trying to choose! Tamora Pierce, Robert Jordan and
Marion Zimmer Bradley are my fantasy faves. I love Tessa Wanton’s erotic work
as well as D.F. Kreiger. Phillip K Dick and Larry Niven for Science Fiction.
Lucy Maud Montgomery is classic.
6. If you could choose one book to go to
the big screen, yours or otherwise, which book would you choose and whom would
you love see casted in the parts?
(A) I hate this
question. I’m not a movie buff. I’ve never been a blockbuster person. I see
movies three or four years after they’ve released when they’re in a bargin bin
somewhere. I’ll go: Hey! I always wanted to see that! So popular actors for
casting is impossible for me. I would like to see Anne McCaffery’s Dragons of
Pern made into a movie.
7. Would you care to tell us what you’re
working on now? That is if it’s not top-secret information. If so, just whisper
it in my ear. I swear it’ll go no further.
(A) I’m working on prequels to Blue Moon House.
I have five of seven done in one draft or another and two to go! I’m also
tinkering with a fairy story that doesn’t have a title yet.
8. Where can we find your stories and is
there a particular reading order?
(A) I’m published
with Naughty Nights Press
Blue Moon House is my only novella so far. (click here to purchase at NNP store)
I have a short story in the third Campus Sexploits
Anthology (click here to purchase at NNP store)
And another in Breathless Press’ first Serviced Anthology
(click here to purchase at Breathless Press store)

The three are completely unrelated and can be read in any order.
They are also
available on Amazon  (http://www.amazon.com/Angelica-Dawson/e/B0094Z3KHC
<–author page with all three titles)
9. Would you please share how your present
and future fans can contact you?

10. Before we conclude this enlightening
interview, do you have anything else you’d like to share? The stage is all
yours.
(A) I have regular flashfiction on my blog. If
you want to get a taste of my writing without a purchase, stop by!
