Interview with Paige Matthews

Welcome Paige Matthews!
1. For those who
might not be familiar with you, would you be a dear and tell the readers a
little about yourself? How did you get your start in the writing business?
(Paige) Okay, well. I live in New England, USA and am the mother of
two very active young children. I have a Master’s degree in Professional
Writing, and really started writing a lot of different pieces for that degree.
Previously, I held a BA in Comparative Literature, which led to my love of
reading, and Victorian Literature primarily. I’ve been writing on and off for
many years, mostly journaling. It was not until my Master’s program where I
decided to expand out and try my hand at many different genres including
poetry, contemporary romance, flash fiction and prose poetry.
2. Do you ever suffer from writer’s block? If so, please share how you handle it.
(Paige) The “block”…honestly I try to just write. If I can get
something down, it usually triggers my brain and I can actually get through the
block, although what I have written usually needs to be completely re-done, but
it’s there. If I am having a day when nothing is coming to me, I just let the
day go and research or look for inspiration until I can get back into the
current story.
3. Contrary to what
some people envision about a romance writer’s life, it’s not all glitz and
glam. Well not for the majority of us. With that bubble sadly busted, when
you’re not writing, how to do you spend your time?
(Paige) I still hold a full-time job working for a small restoration
company in my area processing insurance claims. When I’m not there, I am either
at school studying for my nursing clinical classes (yup, getting a third
degree…LOL) or I am staying active with the kids at home.
4. I know many
writers, such as Dirk and myself, keep their pastime/career a secret. Do those
close to you know you write? If so, what are their thoughts?
(Paige) I’ve attempted to keep my writing career as a secret, as
most people that know do not know that I have written an erotic novel. However,
there are some people close to me that know and I think their thoughts revolve
around “I never thought that would come out of your mind…” Apparently, I’ve
been too good of a girl my entire life. J Seriously, those close to
me are very happy that I have managed to publish my own novel, something that
they know has been a goal of mine for long time.
5. Will you share
with us your all time favorite authors? If you’re like me, it’s a long list so
give us your top ten.
(Paige) Yes, the list is
rather long and very diverse. I was an English Lit student for my undergraduate
degree and hence have opened my eyes to many different authors, so here are my
top ten:
1) Thomas Hardy 2) Charlotte
Bronte 3) William Faulkner 4) Tim O’Brien
5) Ibsen and Shaw, and more contemporary authors including Tiffany
Reisz, James Patterson (non-romantic), Sylvia Day, Maya Banks and too many more
to count. I try and read as much as I can, which is a lot considering I can
usually read a novel a day.
6. If you could choose
one book to go to the big screen, yours or otherwise, which book would you
choose and whom would you love see casted in the parts?
(Paige) I would love to see
The Original Sinners series by Tiffany Reisz go to the big screen. Honestly, I
don’t even know who to cast. I think I should leave that to Hollywood’s best,
as I am so out of the loop to the current actors…heck I haven’t watched T.V in
almost 8 months…I know, I know. LOL.
7. Would you care to
tell us what you’re working on now? That is if it’s not top-secret information.
If so, just whisper it in my ear. I swear it’ll go no further.
(Paige) I am currently working on the second novel in my Devoured
Club Series, entitled Consume Me. A story centered on a character we met in the
first novel, Devour Me. I am also currently outlining the third novel as well,
Dominate Me; which will also feature a collaboration with another indie erotic
8. Where can we find
your stories and is there a particular reading order?
(Paige) You can find my stories on my website (the links for
purchase anyway), but they are available on Smashwords, Nook and Amazon.
Currently, there is no reading order, as you will be able to pick them up
separately. However, some of the story lines continue from the previous novels.
Devour Me is the only published at the moment, as Consume Me is slated for
publication in July, and Dominate Me in October/November.
9. Would you please
share how your present and future fans can contact you?
(Paige) You can reach me in a multitude of places.
My blog at
Facebook- or

Twitter: @paigematthews_3
10. Before we conclude
this enlightening interview, do you have anything else you’d like to share? The
stage is all yours.
(Paige) I just want to say thank you for having my on your blog. I
also want to say thank you to all that have purchased Devour Me, and I hope you
continue on the journey with me. Please keep in contact as I enjoy talking with
fans, readers and authors. Thank you again, Kam.
