Interview with Jambrea Jo Jones

1. Welcome,
Jambrea Jo Jones. For those who might not be familiar with you, would you be a
dear and tell the readers a little about yourself? How did you get your start in
the writing business?
(JJ) Of course! I started of hating to read. Finally my aunt
brought over some romance novels and there were duplicates so my sister would
read to me and I would follow along in my copy of the book. It wasn’t long
after I was getting in trouble in math class for having a romance novel tucked
into my math book. Lol After that I thought—hey, I could do this. I could
write. But I didn’t really start writing until years later. I had graduated
from high school and did a year of college. Moved away from home to CA and came
back. Joined the Air Force, came back home and found yahoo groups. In one of
those groups there was a call for reviews and I started to review and the
writing bug came back and bit. This time it stuck! Lol
2.  All writers fear
the dreaded “block”. Please tell us how you handle it.
(JJ) I take a LOT of breaks.
Like…I can write for a weekend and not get back to it for a few weeks. I do
most of my writing on the weekends and during the week I have a day job plus an
eight year old son. So I stay busy. I find that doing sprints with other
authors will help jump start my writing so I can get into a flow. Music will
sometimes help as well.
3. Contrary to what some people envision about a romance
writer’s life, it’s not all glitz and glam. Well not for the majority of us.
With that bubble sadly busted, when you’re not writing, how to do you spend
your time?
(JJ) I’m a single mother who works a full time job. So most days I take
my son to school, go to work, come home and help my son with his homework, fix
dinner, get him ready for bed. Most nights I go to bed when he does. Lol And
I’m on line a lot talking to people.
4. I know many writers, such as Dirk and myself, keep their
pastime/career a secret. Do those close to you know you write? If so, what are
their thoughts?
(JJ) Everyone knows I write. I don’t have a pen. Well—I kind of
don’t have a pen. Lol My maiden name is Jones. I kept my married name after the
divorce because of my son. People at work know I write romance so does everyone
in my family. My FaceBook page is open to all—family, friends, fans. My parents
are proud, but—I do this for me. Even if they disapproved I would still be me
and write as I do. I don’t know how to do it any other way.
5. Will you share with us your all time favorite authors? If
you’re like me, it’s a long list so give us your top ten.
(JJ) OMG Just a top ten!
No fair. Lol TA Chase, Amber Kell, Carol Lynne, JR Ward, Abigail Roux, SJ
Frost, Amy Lane, Belinda McBride, Suzanne Brockman, ZA Maxfield, Jayne
Rylon…oops, that’s eleven. I’ll stop now. Lol
6. If you could choose one book to go to the big screen,
yours or otherwise, which book would you choose and whom would you love see
casted in the parts?
(JJ) Wow, great
question. I would love to see….wow… um… I’ll say—my Alliance or Seeds of Dawn series.
Alliance is Sci-Fi and Seeds of Dawn is shifter. Heck, I could see my military
one too. Ugh… um… Let’s go with Magnus. That is my first book in my Semper Fi
series. It’s a marine book and m/f. I could see David Boreanaz as Magnus and
Sasha Alexander as Emily Patterson. Sasha played Kate Todd on NCIS. I actually
modeled the characters in the book off of those two so I could totally see them
doing the big screen movie!
7. Would you care to tell us what you’re working on now?
That is if it’s not top-secret information. If so, just whisper it in my ear. I
swear it’ll go no further.
(JJ) Lol I just finished my story for the new
Unconventional Anthology that I did last year for GRL. My story is called
Afternoon Delight and right now I’m working on True Colors and it should be
finished real soon and handed in. It’s part of a Mixed Tape call MLR did.
8. Where can we find your stories and is there a particular
reading order?
(JJ) You can find my stories on my website. www.jambrea.com It should be set up in
reading order. As for buying my stories you can get them at Amazon, ARe, Barnes
and Noble as well as the publishers site.
9. Would you please share how your present and future fans
can contact you?
(JJ) They can always email me at Jambrea@jambrea.com or binojo2@yahoo.com. I’m on FaceBook under
Jambrea as well!
10. Before we conclude this enlightening interview, do you
have anything else you’d like to share? The stage is all yours.
(JJ) Goodness…um…only that I love talking to people
so feel free to email me or friend me on Facebook. I love writing and hope to
do it for many years. If anyone ever has a question—I’m pretty open so contact
me.

Wrap-up
I want to again thank Jambrea
Jo Jones for stopping by and I look forward to your next visit on April 19th!
(JJ) Thanks for having me! It’s been fun.

Great interview and the book I would want as a movie is "Rayne's Wild Ride" have I told you I absolutely love that book. I am a hugh stalker of Jammy Jo's.

    Cinders

  2. That would be cool, Cinders…and they could totally film it here since I set the story in my hometown. lol

    Thanks, Cinders!!! 🙂

  3. Awesome interview, JJJ and Dirk/Kam! Alliance was the first one I thought of too, for the big screen, but mmm… I could totally see your military ones too… 🙂 I'm terrible with casting though, so no suggestions, but I like yours, a lot!

    • Thanks! It would be SO cool to see m/m sci-fi as a movie… *Dreamy sigh* lol If anything of mine got made a movie…I'd have to see if I could get in the contract that I got to help pick the actors. heehee 🙂

  4. I love the cover above. Yummi!

  5. Good interview! I loved Magnus and I'm patiently waiting for the other books in the series:)

  6. It is time for a reread of Magnus…haven't read it for a while. Great interview Jambrea, and I'm sure Seeds of Dawn would be a terrific miniseries (on cable of course, too much hotness for network TV)

  7. I would love to see the Alliance series on the big screen. And Rayne's Wild Ride would be a close second.

    Great interview!

  8. Jambrea, I haven't seen this much action on an interview in a long time. Maybe I should feature you more often. *grins*

  9. Cool interview Jambrea! For the movies, I want the Marines! LOL
