Interview with London Saint James

Welcome, London Saint James.

1. For those who might
not be familiar with you, would you be a dear and tell the readers a little
about yourself? How did you get your start in the writing business?

Actually, as a child I playacted
out all the stories that were running around in my head! I’m one of those
people who as soon as I learned how to write, always scribbled down stories. I
wrote and stopped. Wrote and stopped. You know, had to do the sensible thing as
I got older. I went to college, got a job, did all those sensible things, but I
always came back to writing/scribbling. A couple years ago, I became more
serious about trying to get published, and I started to research publishing
companies. I’d written a short story, Mistake,
with a BDSM twist, so when I saw a submission call for a BDSM anthology called Master of Mine from Evernight
Publishing, I decided to submit it. I figured what’s the worst thing that could
happen? Being told, “You suck as a writer.” I prepared for the worst, but
thankfully that didn’t happen.  Evernight
liked my submission, and offered me a place in the anthology. From there I’ve
been writing as fast as my brain can think and my fingers can type. *Smiles*

2.  All writers fear
the dreaded “block”. Please tell us how you handle it.
Eat lots and lots of chocolate! LOL. So far I suppose I’m
lucky. I’ve had a few “bad days,” where I’m just not in the mood to write, but
for the most part, I have so many characters dying to tell their stories that I
haven’t had to deal with any type of major block.
3. Contrary to what some people envision about a romance
writer’s life, it’s not all glitz and glam. Well not for the majority of us.
With that bubble sadly busted, when you’re not writing, how to do you spend
your time?
You are so right! No glitz. I’d love to say I lounge on
white sandy beaches with my toes in the sand, while a fine piece of man candy
feeds me grapes, but…I’m fairly sure I’m boring. I do try to spend time with
family and friends as much as I can. I love to read, listen to music, and watch
a good movie.  Of course I squeeze all
that in between the thrill of laundry, shopping for food, and other fascinating
things like putting gas in my car, and getting the cat groomed.
4. I know many writers, such as Dirk and myself, keep their
pastime/career a secret. Do those close to you know you write? If so, what are
their thoughts?
Those closest to me know I’m a writer, and are very
supportive, but many don’t know I write. I like the freedom the anonymity
brings, and I write for the joy of it.
5. Will you share with us your all time favorite authors? If
you’re like me, it’s a long list so give us your top ten.
This is a hard one because it is a very long list. I’ll give
it a stab. Megan Hart, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Charlaine Harris, Karyn Gerrard, Gena
Showalter, Stacey Espino, Lorraine Nelson, Sarah McCarty, Victoria Dahl, and
Julia London. I could go on and on, and on.
6. If you could choose one book to go to the big screen,
yours or otherwise, which book would you choose and whom would you love see
casted in the parts?
I’ve always thought that Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter
Books (any of them) would make a great movie for the big screen. I’m not sure
who all to cast, but sexy-bad-ass would need to be the main thing when casting
any of the Dark Hunters, like perhaps the actor in the new Conan the Barbarian,
Jason Momoa.
7. Would you care to tell us what you’re working on now?
That is if it’s not top-secret information. If so, just whisper it in my ear. I
swear it’ll go no further.
I’m working on several projects, and don’t know which one
will be completed first. I have a couple of erotic contemporary romance stories
I’m working on.  The working titles are: A Thin Line, and Law of Attraction. A BDSM with the working title of, A Whisper of Silk, and even a historical
romance called, The Sinner Inside
Mississippi.
8. Where can we find your stories and is there a particular
reading order?

10. Before we wrap up this enlightening interview, do you
have anything else you’d like to share? The stage is all yours.
Well, I think I’ve probably prattled on enough. It was
totally awesome being able to “talk” with you. Thanks so much for having me
over to visit.  It has been a blast.
There you have it, ladies and gents. I want to again thank London
Saint James for stopping by and I look forward to the next time we can visit together. Oh and London, if I remember correctly, SK said the Dark Hunters’ series was picked up. I can’t wait to see who they select as Acheron and Simi. 🙂
